Remote connection dead and gone: record still locked

Subject pretty well covers it. v11, Mac OS.

4D remote connection was lost while the record was open in an input  
form--5 days ago. No evidence in the Server ui of the client/user or  
any processes. Why?

Does anyone know of any server or client prefs settings which would  
cause (or solve) this?
