Removing modules from Drupal.orgI have two ideas for Drupal modules a couple of years ago and immediately reserved the namespace for them at http://drupal.org/project/ariel and http://drupal.org/project/caliban.
I've only just been reminded of these projects, and I now don't have the time to develop the ideas or write the code. How can I got about getting the projects removed from Drupal.org?

Re: Removing modules from Drupal.orgYou cannot delete content on Drupal.org. I'd say just add a note to the project page saying that the project page is available, and that anyone who wants it can have it. On Apr 16, 2012 7:36 PM, "James Benstead" <james.benstead@...> wrote:

Re: Removing modules from Drupal.orgI believe it is possible to delete project nodes; is there some other technical reason they aren't deleted I am unaware of?

Re: Removing modules from Drupal.org
I thought they could be deleted if there are no releases or
downloads. I would post an issue in the webmasters queue:

Re: Removing modules from Drupal.orgProjects with code aren't generally deleted for community reasons more
than technical reasons. Deleted projects leave interested people with nowhere to contribute. As the projects mentioned here don't have any code in them, they can probably be deleted, or maybe just unpublished. The way to do that is to open an issue in the webmasters queue: http://drupal.org/project/webmasters -- Scott Reynen Sliced Bread Labs On 4/16/12 9:21 PM, Robin Monks wrote: > I believe it is possible to delete project nodes; is there some other > technical reason they /aren't/ deleted I am unaware of? > > /Robin > > On Mon, Apr 16, 2012 at 10:44 PM, Cameron Eagans <cweagans@... > <mailto:cweagans@...>> wrote: > > You cannot delete content on Drupal.org. Re: Removing modules from Drupal.orgYou could also file an issue at webmasters queue, as stated before by

Re: Removing modules from Drupal.orgOh, so we don't *need* to use the webmaster's issue queue after all. ;)

Re: Removing modules from Drupal.orgIncorrect. You DO need to use the webmaster queue. Somebody did this outside of the normal process. We also normally don't delete content from Drupal.org, instead preferring to unpublish it or assign it to Abandoned Modules so that somebody else can inherit it.

Re: Removing modules from Drupal.org
Yeah; I got a bit too helpful; apparently there is one care where there is a reason to the steps (namely preventing account spoofing). Although, I still don't see the argument in not deleted totally empty projects; which there are a decent amount of. If there's code, sure, save it. If it's empty, someone else can make a new project anyways so there's no loss. /Robin

Re: Removing modules from Drupal.orgIn my mind, I just had a scenario play out wherein someone covets their project name, while their nemesis plots stealing it. Taking the name is an important first step for a project. I can see why the policy is in place.

Re: Removing modules from Drupal.orgNote: if the project in question is a sandbox project, you're free to delete it yourself if it's empty or obsolete, without any intervention from the webmasters or infra team. When you do this, the Git repo for the sandbox, and *all* related content (e.g. issues) will also be deleted. The hope is that you're not going to delete a sandbox project that still has a bunch of useful issues. In that case, the intention is that you're going to move those issues to a more appropriate queue first (e.g. back into the issue queue for the parent project). See https://drupal.org/node/1077884 for more.
