Replacing '≥' with space.

Whenever I try to write "event ≥ 1 12" string to the pdf it is actually writting "event 1 12".
I have debugged the library but couldn't find any thing. I am using Arial.ttf to write my pdf file.

Please help me for this as i have wasted too much time on this.
