Request for infos about AMD64 and 64 bit systemsHello everybody,
I'm trying to collect infos about LightZone for Linux and put them in the form of a FAQ available at lightzone.minimumeffort.net.I hope this could help persons at their first experiences with LightZone. An interesting topic is the compatibility issues affecting LightZone running on AMD64 CPUs and 64 bit systems. As I don't have a way to do any testing myself, I'd like to gather informations from people using these systems. I've already been browsing the mailing list archive and found interesting infos. Before I publish the FAQ I'd like to know if anybody has experienced other problems than the ones listed, and eventually if solutions have been found. So, if anybody here has personal experience, I'd really like to know more about the problems and eventual workarounds found with these systems. Drop me a line at my email address or answer here on the list. Thanks Paolo _______________________________________________ LightZone mailing list LightZone@... http://kast-dev.com/mailman/listinfo/lightzone |

I don't run 64 bit system, but can contribute with some other info 1) I work on 512 Mb RAM so it is not true that 1Gb is a minimum requirement (well nothing really important) 2) I printed from LZ 2.4 on my Brother HL-1430 laser printer (yeah 300dpi rules ;) ), so printing works, even on non-postscript printers (anybody else tried to print?) 3) The mouse problem ("yikes! my mouse is clicking all crazy") is connected with window manager (window maker got the problem, as it has it with all java programs) _______________________________________________ LightZone mailing list LightZone@... http://kast-dev.com/mailman/listinfo/lightzone |

Re: Request for infos about AMD64 and 64 bit systemsHi Jacek,
this stuff matters. Expecially the printer info and the one about mouse problems. Thanks. (I really long to upgrade my pc as soon and try LZ 2.4!!! you make me even more envious!!! and much more now that I know about the printing capability) On Friday 18 May 2007 20:01, cuniek@... wrote: > > So, if anybody here has personal experience, I'd really like to know > > more about the problems and eventual workarounds found with these > > systems. Re: Request for infos about AMD64 and 64 bit systemsI don't run a 64 bit system, so I can't comment on that.
However, I still have problems with printing: I'm attempting to print to an Epson Stylus Photo R2400 using CUPS, and it seems to generate a print file successfully, but nothing gets printed. Re: Request for infos about AMD64 and 64 bit systemsWell, I had a chance to put Lightzone on an Intel DuoCore box today
running the 64 bit version of Ubuntu 7.04. Attempting to start LZ resulted in the error pattern reported in the past; adding in the '-known client' hack enabled the program to launch and perform. Data points. I'll take a look at printing here at home and see what I can find to report on, dan On Fri, 2007-05-18 at 01:35 +0200, Paolo wrote: > Hello everybody, > I'm trying to collect infos about LightZone for Linux and put them in the form > of a FAQ available at lightzone.minimumeffort.net.I hope this could help > persons at their first experiences with LightZone. > > An interesting topic is the compatibility issues affecting LightZone running > on AMD64 CPUs and 64 bit systems. > > As I don't have a way to do any testing myself, I'd like to gather > informations from people using these systems. Re: Request for infos about AMD64 and 64 bit systemsOk, this is good news. Expecially considering that I'll probably get myself a
64 bit system soon! ;-) Thanks. Paolo On Saturday 19 May 2007 10:11, dan wrote: > Well, I had a chance to put Lightzone on an Intel DuoCore box today > running the 64 bit version of Ubuntu 7.04.
