Retrieval of mergeinfo unsupported

Hi

I'm trying to use svn merge --reintegrate for the first time.

My client version is:
svn, version 1.5.2 (r32768) (OSX)

and server is:
svn, version 1.5.1 (r32289) (Ubuntu)

Still, I'm getting a  Retrieval of mergeinfo unsupported by 'svn://company/repo'

Is the protocol svn:// not supported? What am I missing here?

More importantly, how do I integrate back my changes to the trunk without this option?

Was the repository database itself upgraded when the binaries were
upgraded? See http://subversion.tigris.org/svn_1.5_releasenotes.html#repos-upgrades
