Retry Search of Zerosearch/GUI coders:
A minor problem that's been niggling at me for a while: I find myself dealing with searches that have had their 'Retry Search every' value changed to 0. While some stopped searches have the default 'Retry Search every' value, others have a value of 0. In such a case, the value is not reset to the default when the search is restarted. I believe that this may happen when a search has expired while GTKG was running; I am not sure that such searches appear as 'grayed out' until the next launch. I suspect that a failure to notice the '0' of a grayed out search is the reason that I sometimes come across an active search with a 'Retry Search every' value. (Under such circumstances, the search will be performed only once; so it just looks like there were very few hits.) However, it sometimes feels like the search is reverting to the '0' value on these searches whenever GTKG is launched. - Matt. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys. Have any of your searches a ReissueTimeout other than 3600 in ~/.gtk-gnutella/searches.xml? -- Christian ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys. Ah. Should have thought to ask myself. My default reissue timeout is set to 1800. 'ReissueTimeout' refers to the value in the search.xml file. 'Retry search' refers to the valued displayed by the GUI. Of the 62 Enabled="0" searches, 40 had a ReissueTimeout of 0 and 22 had a ReissueTimeout of 1800. Of the 157 Enabled="1" searches, 5 had a ReissueTimeout of 0 and 152 had a ReissueTimeout of 1800. (These values were all obtained independently of one another via 'grep -Ec'.) The 5 enabled searches with no reissue timeout had nothing remarkable in common. They all had a lifetime of 336, but that's standard for my searches. I changed the Retry search value of one of the 'live' five searches with a zeroed ReissueTimeout, and observed the following: 1) Upon a numeral keystroke within the 'Retry search' box. the '0' was immediately replaced by the correct default value. This was true of several numerals, not just the '1' of '1800'. 2) The change persisted in ReissueTimeout after GTKG was quit and relaunched, and was correctly reflected in the 'Retry search' box. The Retry search value of the 'grayed out' searches are accessible. I changed one with a value of '0' to '1800'; the change was instant and persistent as in (1) & (2) above. - Matt. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
