Be a Real World Hero!

Some of our fellow City of Heroes players have set up the Real World Hero (http://realworldhero.com) site this holiday season to make it easy to be a hero outside the game! Several times in the past I've had people ask if I accepted donations for HeroStats, and I've always declined. I'm in this to help the community out, and while I appreciate the thought, donations aren't necessary. But if you like HeroStats and do want to show it, you can't do much better than helping out the charities over at Real World Heroes.

Announcing HeroStats v4.6.3.0!

The HeroStats team is pleased to announce the next minor revision of HeroStats. HeroStats is a statistical analyzer for the game City of
Heroes. It monitors your hero's in-game progress and provides you with a series of statistics.

This release is a minor release that contains several bug fixes and new features. It is recommended to read the release notes (mentioned below) for all the details on this release.

4. Download the latest HeroStats and reinstall.

It would also help if you attach the HSD file from the session where
you tried to send badges (that's the file generated when you do

Me again. For some reason Outlook didn’t show me what files it attached until I looked in my “sent” folder. The first batch of files should be from HS stable, the second batch from HS unstable.

HeroStats works off the name of the process running on your machine,
which must be "CityOfHeroes". This is hardcoded into the scanner. The
actual EXE file name doesn't matter, since HeroStats pulls that from
the process information.

If your machine is using a different process name for some reason,
then you can't use the pre-compiled release, but there's a workaround.
You can download the source (http://herostats.org/devel/svn.html),
then modify the name of the process and compile your own version.

Trouble with diffrent exe

Hello people from HeroStats,

I'm a great fan of City of Heroes and love it to play.
Sins a few weeks I've a new PC with a ATI video card, It's a lot faster then the one I had before, a Nvidia but it seems CoH has a few problems with ATI cards.

I've found a solution for this on internet, see the link below.

I had to changes the exe file but because of this HeroStats is not monitor anymore. Is there a way to get HeroStats monitoring again with a different exe then CityofHeroes.exe?

HeroStats 4.6.2.0 released!

Announcing HeroStats v4.6.2.0!

The HeroStats team is pleased to announce the next minor revision of
HeroStats. HeroStats is a statistical analyzer for the game City of
Heroes. It monitors your hero's in-game progress and provides you with a
series of statistics.

This release is a minor release that contains several bug fixes. It is
recommended to read the release notes (mentioned below) for all the
details on this release.

This indicates that you don't have the proper .NET Framework version
installed. I'm not sure why the installer didn't detect it, but you
should be able to fix it this way:

1. Uninstall HeroStats.
2. Go to Windows Update and install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. If you
don't get the option to do that installation, you may need to
uninstall the current .NET Framework on your computer first.
3. Reboot.
4. Download the latest HeroStats and reinstall. (At the moment you
should get the latest unstable build - I haven't yet had opportunity
to update the stable build for Issue 15.)

HeroStats and I15

As most of you probably already know, Issue 15 is now live on the CoH
servers. The HeroStats Unstable builds should be compatible with Issue
15 - I haven't had time to test it myself, but it worked with the last
build on Test. Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to update the
stable build for a little while - very busy at work - so I recommend
that everyone use the Unstable build for now.

Since when does SDSM bump spell failure by 45%?

My Vampire Chaotic Wizard wished in SDSM (Silver Dragon Scale Mail) nice and early, put it on, got a major happy for all of 5 seconds... and then realized I couldn't reliably cast ANYTHING anymore. When did that happen?? All spoilers/resources/etc seem to claim that Dragon Scale doesn't jinx wizards' spell failure.

Tried without wearing anything else, with cloak, without weapons, etc. - same thing. Wasn't hungry, wasn't burdened, wasn't cursed, wasn't unlucky. All stats were high, including highlights like 18 int, 18 wis, and a whopping 24 str.

Short of a version change no one warned about, I cannot seem to find any other reason for this issue.

What gives?

The admin for the system needs to run recover (supplied with Slash'EM).
I guess that means you need to talk to whoever runs slashem.de.

Big trouble

it's Sat Jun 20 19:44:24 CEST 2009 and I'm in trouble deep. After a
'flickering' Console, there seems to be no way to continue my game:
"There is already a game in progress under your name. Destroy old game?
[yn]" is the message. Beeing not interested in destroying my game my
choice is 'n'. The result is "Connection to slashem.de closed."

I hope there is a way to rescue and I will 'gratefully accept your
advice'.

I myself am quite busy with the real life currently, but I'm sure that
at some point I'll find time to contribute to Slash'EM once again.
Biggest obstacle currently for me is that I lost my development
environment in hard drive crash and haven't built it together again.
But now it might be good time to start building a new one. :D

Hey, I got the proof that it's alive at some points by getting 2 answers ;)

I have asked this question since the debian package has been orphaned. I think I
will adopt it and then be the new debian maintainer of slashem.

Yes, most definitely alive.

I can't really speak for the other developers but I can take guess:
all the developers work is furious little pieces everytime the whim
takes them or when they have the time. If a serious flaw is found
you're sure to find a patch quite quickly. I'm guessing it's been
quieter than usual of late due to NetHack itself not having had a
release for many years. If you want a predictable update: you'll be
sure to see a flurry of commits and a release as soon as the devteam
releases a new version of NetHack.

There's no direct support for Mac - I don't have one, and no one else
has done much work with it. But I have added an option to read
messages from a chat log file, which in theory should work on any OS.
There's limited functionality, but it will track basic power
information.

The tricky bit would be to get the .NET Framework going on the Mac.
One possibility is Mono, the open source .NET implementation. Or maybe
it could be run on the Windows emulator. If anyone has gotten it to
work, though, I'm not aware of it.
