Router that doesn't like DrupalHi All,
I'm sorry to ask this, but I don't know who to ask next. This regards port forwarding for routers. I had brighthouse. I had a router with port forwarding that worked. I had dyndns.com setup for holly.hobby-site.com. I was happy and my clients were happy because they could view their site at client.holly.hobby-site.com from their home or office. If I had known, I would have cherished this time more. I switched to Verizon Fios (well my husband did). They gave me a cable router. I cannot figure out how to get it to port forward. It's a Westell A90 9100EM-10 router. On portforwarding.com it's the only router not mentioned and given instructions. I've spent hours with verizon, even the company that created it, and have gotten either people that didn't know or care, or possible solutions that didn't work. Can I connect my old, wonderful router with an ethernet cord to it and get back my port forwarding? Does anyone know the magic settings for this Westell Router of Darkness? Thanks, Holly Ferree _______________________________________________ consulting mailing list consulting@... http://lists.drupal.org/mailman/listinfo/consulting |

Re: Router that doesn't like DrupalI think your problem is not Drupal, it's just that you can't route the port. I don't really know how to open a port on that router and to be honest this has absolutely nothing to do with this.
My first google search landed here:
I think that is the proper place to ask those questions. best, Ivan Soto Fernandez Web Developer http://ivansotof.com On Wed, Oct 28, 2009 at 1:42 PM, Holly Ferree <hferree@...> wrote: Hi All, _______________________________________________ consulting mailing list consulting@... http://lists.drupal.org/mailman/listinfo/consulting |

Re: Router that doesn't like DrupalI got one email from Keven that says this router has the same GUI so I could try it: http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Actiontec/MI-424-WR/Terminal_Services.htm . I’m hoping and praying that will work. I have a client where it would really be nice if they could view their site without having to screenshare. Re: Router that doesn't like DrupalUnless you have a FiOS business account, port 80 is permanently
blocked at a network level, not just your router. -Mike __________________ Michael Prasuhn 503.512.0822 office 503.539.3864 cell 503.661.7574 home mike@... http://mikeyp.net On Oct 28, 2009, at 12:42 PM, Holly Ferree wrote: > Hi All, > > I'm sorry to ask this, but I don't know who to ask next. Re: Router that doesn't like DrupalHolly,
You cannot connect the old router and expect it to work. You will have to login as admin to your new router and configure port forwarding. Can you get to the admin page for the router? Re: Router that doesn't like DrupalIf this is the case, you can reconfigure your webserver to use a
different port. Re: Router that doesn't like DrupalI actually had an issue with our comcast router the other day where Drupal.org
wouldn't load but all other sites would. Try talking to a tier 3 sys admin and have them disable smart packet detection. Worked wonders for us. Router status issue update 10/28 :DI just wanted to thank you all for your suggestions and to update... My port forwarding is working! So happy. So yeah Drupal, yeah Drupalites, and yeah consulting! Thank you all so much! Holly Ferree ----------------------------------- Here is the solution for the Verizon Router (This solution might work for others too. I have the average user setup (not using any type of business plan, etc.): 1) Port Forwarding tab --> create new entry, enter the settings below ROUTER IP ADDRESS OF YOUR COMPUTER Net address: Any Public IP Address: Any Protocols: HTTP - TCP Any -> 80 Status: Active 2) Firewall: typical 3) Advanced --> Personal Domain Name (Dynamic DNS), enter settings below Enable: check yes Host Name: the forwarding URL you set up at dyndns Status: Updated - IP address updated successfully Connection: Broadband Connection (Ethernet) Provider: website that you’ve set up for port forwarding (dyndns.org, no-ip.com, tzo.com, or easydns.com) Full Domain Name: YourWebDomainName.ProviderListedInAboveStep User Name: Your Username when you login to your provider Password: Password when you login to your provider Wildcard: Check Yes Mail Exchanger: (blank, I don’t use) Backup MX: left unchecked offline: left unchecked SSL Mode: None ------------------ I believe that is all that mattered that was changed...so many tries. (let me know if you have questions on any of the other settings I missed to state above) Best of luck :D _______________________________________________ consulting mailing list consulting@... http://lists.drupal.org/mailman/listinfo/consulting |
