SD card automounting

I have a built in SD card reader in my laptop and I would like to get it
automounted with the hal/gnome-volume-manager combination.  I have
looked around but it doesn't seem anyone else is trying to do this.
When I plug in my sd card dmesg shows:

mmcblk0: mmc0:a95c SD256 247040KiB
 mmcblk0: p1

I then have a /dev/mmcblk0 item in /dev.  I can mount that manually but
it would be easier to have it automounted.  Is hal the right thing I
need to configure for this?  Thanks for any help.
