SF stats, GTK2 and S52Hi,
I'm suprise of the volume of activity in OpenEV from the SourceForge Stat. For exemple OpenEV was downloaded more then 500 time in the last 2 months or 7.8 GB. Of course OpenEV weight something like 20MB but still. Bellow I distilled OpenEV hit stat: OpenEV Project Web Hits: 20 Apr 2008 * 551 19 Apr 2008 1,194 18 Apr 2008 1,307 17 Apr 2008 1,430 16 Apr 2008 2,363 15 Apr 2008 1,859 14 Apr 2008 1,636 * Partial data: End of day not yet reached A total of more then 10000 hits per weeks. Now come the weird part. I commited a small fix in an obscure part of openev (ie contrib/S52) on April 09. Bellow is the stat for CVS activity for that day: Date (UTC) - Anon Read Transactions - Devel Read Transactions - Write Transactions 09 Apr 2008 4,530 5 1 So from that I read that after my commit 4530 ppl downloaded the update on the very same day! I'm trying to figure out how that work. Or maybe I'm reading to much from those stat! Or else ppl have hooks in CVS that tell them when something change! (That would be neet though!) I was under the impression that I was the only one using this S52 stuff (I have about one e-mail per year). So if the number are right then the activity on the mailling list itself is be no mean an indication of user's activity. This might be somewhat uplifting for Mario Beauchamp and is super job of porting openev to GTK2 :) BTW I got testmain (just GV no Python) running on a stock Utuntu (7.10 - the Gutsy Gibbon X86_64) after a bit of work on the makefile. Work great! Now I would like to port my S52 stuff to GTK2 :) Should I write/commit in the SVN part of OpenEV2? Where should it go? This is assuming that I have write access everywhere in openev (a bit scary if the stat above are correct.) Thanks, Sylvain. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Re: SF stats, GTK2 and S52As far as I know, S52 support is really waited by companies that uses OpenEV. In industry, they often use this format.
I think OpenEV is still heavily used everywhere in the world, but companies are not accustomed to open source and they just develop code around OpenEV but they do not deploy forces in improving OpenEV itself. I am surprised as well... > This might be somewhat uplifting for Mario Beauchamp and is super job > of porting openev to GTK2 :) Thanks but I did what I had to do to make CIETmap work. If it benefits OpenEV in the process, it's a bonus! :) I certainly would do more for OpenEV itself if I could. However, I started another project involving MIDI stuff that takes all my free time now... > BTW I got testmain (just GV no Python) running on a stock Utuntu > (7.10 - the Gutsy Gibbon X86_64) after a bit of work on the makefile. > > Work great! Glad to read it! The Python part may be a little trickier though, please refer to my last post about gview.py for details. > Now I would like to port my S52 stuff to GTK2 :) Should I write/commit in the SVN part > of OpenEV2? If you need any help porting your stuff, don't hesitate to contact me. cheers -- Mario B. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by the 2008 JavaOne(SM) Conference Don't miss this year's exciting event.
