SIP phone won't ring

Hello,

I have installed Vocal via www.vovida.com in this Red Hat Linux system, and seems ok with everything loaded and installed. I can place soft phone calls between 2 terminals in the same Linux machine. But when I connected it to 2 real Cisco SIP phones, it doesn't work. I did -

1. Condifure these 2 phonesets pointing to this SIP proxy server.
2. Set IPs for these 2 phnoes. They are all in the same subnet 10.32.8.XX (2 phone sets and the server).
3. I used http://host IP/vocal to run the server configuration and entered usernames (phone numbers) for these
2 SIP phones. Phone call can not be placed (no ring or ringback).

This server 10.32.8.73 for some reason can not ping these 2 phones (x.x.x.46 and x.x.x.56), but they can be ping from other PCs in the same subnet.. Any idea or clue what may have caused this, please advice, thanks.

Solon

Hello Solon,

Could you confirm that you are getting the dial tone in the cisco SIP
phone.
Also check the cisco phone status, it should be successfully get
registered with the proxy server.
If you are getting dial tone and not able to place the call then please
check have selected appropriate Codec's in the cisco phone.

Hope this would help you to resolve the issue

Regards
Prakash
