I had the same problem and solved it by adding the port to the smtp url.
For example "smtp.MyDomain.com:587"

I need to configure Evolution so that it can send e-mail via SMTP using
TLS encryption and authentication. And it must use port 587 rather than
the default port 25. I don't see any where to set the port. I was able
to configure Thunderbird so that it used port 587 and it works fine. But
I cannot get Evolution to send e-mail.
