If upgrades are needed, what are the
upgrade paths?

Costs of upgrades

I've googled for a SQuirreL / ibatis plugin but can't find one... does one exist?

I often copy / paste code from ibatis xml files into SQuirreL and it'd be nice if a dialog would show to fill in the parameters

For example if I attempt to execute the following code (copy pasted from an ibatis xml file)

select *

from table

where column1 = #value1#

and column2 = #value2#

I'd like squirrel to popup a dialog asking for values for value1 and value2

Cheers,
Lance.

I have made some enhancements to the Oracle and Derby plugins. Specifically
they deal with in-place editing and compiling of stored procedures and
triggers. What is the best way to go about getting my changes considered
for inclusion in the official squirrel distribution?
>> I am trying to run SquirrelSQL 3.0.3 on Windows XP Pro, which is
>> running Java 1.6.0_16. I previously had no problems with the 2.x
>> version of SquirrelSQL. I recently installed Java 6.
>>
>> After a fresh install, I try running SquirrelSQL and it fails mid-way
>> through startup. If I edit squirrel-sql.bat to leave the command
>> window open, I see that a NullPointerException occurs in
>> AliasFolderState.
>>
>> Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
> Try to delete SQLAliases23_treeStructure.xml from your SQuirreL user
> directory.
>

Hi,

I found a lot of mailing to the subject z/OS. Now I tried to add the
z/OS-Changes to the db2-Plugin (I add my version to the mail). The
main modification is to use the columnnames instead of the labels. We
use the labels with a longer description.
So I wrote new DB2Datatypes for almost all types. Now I have the
problem, that in the DataSetUpdateableTableModelImpl.class is no hook
for the plugin and I have to change behavious of the method
updateTableComponent. How can I change the behavious from label to
colmnname?

Regards,
Christian
I was wondering if solution for bug
net.sourceforge.squirrel_sql.fw.gui.action.TableExportCvsCommand.java
and putting at line 345 following code:

             long utcTime = time+offset;
             /* Work around Excel's problem with dates before 1900-03-01
              */
             if (utcTime<-2203891200000l) {
             	utcTime+=86400000;
             }

             java.util.Date xlsUTCDate = new java.util.Date(utcTime);

I have also a second question. I can't find any option for exporting
tables as OpenOffice Calc or XML files. Is there currently any way to do it?
If not, it seems I would be nice to have this functionality, and
implementing it would be possible by further modifying files
TableExportCvsCommand and TableExportCvsController. There would also
be some additional libraries required for OpenOffice's export.
> Betreff: [Squirrel-sql-users] access objects existing in a different schema and database (JDBC API)

>
> Hello,
>
> I'd to know how to access objects exists in a different schema and
> database?
> I've connected to an Oracle database (using JDBC ODBC Bridge), and using
> the results from running some queries in this database, I need to access
> objects (update records in tables, delete records from tables) existing in a
> different schema and database.
> [...]

You could create a database link in the Oracle database you connected to.
Then you can access the other database from within the connection to the
first database.

Hope that helps,

Hi Carmen,

If the other schema is in the same Oracle server instance (SID), and you have
privileges to access the schema with the user account that you connected with,
then the objects (tables, views, etc.) should be loaded into the object tree
by default (this can be controlled using the Alias Properties to specify which
schemas are loaded when you connect; right-click on the Alias and
choose "Alias properties").

However, if the other schema is in a different Oracle server instance
(SID), then
you would need to create a new alias to connect to that server intance.

we tried to connect Squirrel to DB2 5.0.1 and this was successful.

We can send Select-Statements to DB2 and will get the correct data.

The Oracle toolbar appears in the SQL tab for the Oracle
session (see attached image which contains the four
Oracle toolbar icons between the "select current sql"

When you click on the first of the icons
"View Oracle Database Output", you will see a new
window popup that contains an area where output is
click the refresh button (or enable auto-refresh) in the

> Hi All,
>
> I'm evaluating SquirrelSQL as a tool for doing Oracle dev work.
>
> Mostly I've managed to get it to do what I want, but I'm not able to see the
> results of calls to dbms_output.put_line.
>
> I read through
> http://www.nabble.com/Script-not-executed%2C-although-Oracle-SQLPlus-could-do-it-td7358034.html#a7358034
> and although I have the Oracle plugin installed, I can't see the buttons
> referenced.
>
> I'm using v3.0.2. Running simple select queries works as expected.
>
> Running
>
> begin
> dbms_output.put_line(sys_context('userenv','instance_name'));
> end;
> /
>
> Just gives me "Query 1 of 1 elapsed time (seconds) - Total: 0, SQL query: 0,
> Building output: 0" in the bottom pane.
>
> anybody got any ideas what's going wrong or how to proceed?
>
> TIA

That would be because the postgres driver is marking the column type
with code 1111 which in JDBC terms means "Other" type (non-standard
type code that can be used to represent any type that is
database-specific). It's not ideal that the driver does this. It
could be considered a bug since literal strings usually have a type of
(or are compatible for casting to) varchar which has a JDBC type code
of 12. Perhaps you could file this a bug/feature request against the
pg jdbc driver (I'm assuming you are using the latest version of both
server and driver). I did my test with a reasonably recent version
(PostgreSQL 8.3 JDBC4 with SSL (build 603)), but you will definitely
want to make sure that you can reproduce the problem with the latest
version of the driver before filing a report. You can view the column
type info in the results tab by clicking the Metadata tab and looking
at the column in question (represented here as a row) and the column
with the header "getColumnType".

As a work-around, perhaps you can do something like the following:

select cast( 'hi' as varchar ) as mycolumn from tableX
running in Eclipse (had to change to Java 6, duh). I tried out my
for the hint is a better choice than "square".

Hi everyone! I love using SQuirreL but I have one thing I'd like
tweaked. On Mac OS X, JButtons render differently based on what you
put in them. The buttons on the table header look like rounded Aqua
buttons normally and they change shape when you put the up/down arrow
icons in them. You tell the button to take a hint and render the same
way every time. Hopefully another benefit will be that I get to see
more text in the header using the "square" hint.

Here are the available hints from Apple. The Sun Swing docs indicate
that if a platform doesn't understand a hint it ignores it, so I think
it's safe without having to resort to OS detection.
run from my Eclipse. I will be very happy to test something if anyone
would like to add this.
> I'm using squirrel sql 3.0.2 to access oracle 10g. When I access a table that
> has columns using the reference datatype ( id 2006) squirrel displays the
> string "Unknown type (2,006)". I've tried loading different versions of the
> thin client driver, ojdbc6.jar and ojdbc14.jar, but the display remains the
> same.
>
> Is there some configuration step I'm missing?
>
> Regards
