Scorecard BOF and resulting WGHi everyone, A "Scorecard Working Group" formed at the Paris Conference to tackle the issue of how to improve upon the current Core/Provisional/Contrib Tool Status system and its criteria. The goal is to produce a Tool Scorecard and a Service Scorecard, which will provide the release team with guidance on what to include in a release, and organizations deploying Sakai a comparative evaluation of tools' and services' capabilities. Additionally, there is a goal of defining a set of criteria with tool/service evaluation being performed for the 2.6 release. During the meeting in Paris, the group defined possible several dimensions for the score card. Notes of this meeting can be found on the WG's confluence space at: http://confluence.sakaiproject.org/confluence/x/FwDfAQ. Additional participation is welcomed from all in the community. If you are interested in participating, please join the WG on collab by using the MyWorkspace Membership tool. To join follow these steps * Log into https://collab.sakaiproject.org/portal * Choose the Membership tool * Select the 'Joinable sites' link * Search on 'WG: Scorecard' and click join Thanks! RE: Proposed Scorecard EvaluationI'd also like to see the "Scorecard Items" defined. Even during the BOF in Paris it was clear that folks have different views on what was meant by some of these items. For those filling out the scorecard or those trying to make sense of it as a metric, those definitions will be important as well. They don't have to be on the top-level view of scorecard, however, they should be captured and link to somewhere. -peter From: Mark Norton [mailto:markjnorton@...] Sent: Tuesday, July 15, 2008 5:26 PM To: May, Megan Marie Cc: sakai-dev@...; sakai-qa@...; Sakai Accessibility WG; Sakai UI UI; sakai-user Subject: Proposed Scorecard Evaluation I have created an initial scorecard with evaluation based on Megan's notes at: http://confluence.sakaiproject.org/confluence/display/SCORE/Scorecard+Ev aluation Please jump in and add comments. - Mark Norton May, Megan Marie wrote: > Jon, > Yes, this scorecard would have a dimension that would rate the > accessibility of a tool to people with disabilities. Re: Proposed Scorecard EvaluationThis is definitely worth doing, Peter. I had trouble understanding some of the items from the notes. Definitions would go a long way towards refining the scorecard. Re: Proposed Scorecard EvaluationI have entered initial definitions for the scorecard items at: http://confluence.sakaiproject.org/confluence/display/SCORE/Scorecard+Item+Definitions These are very preliminary. Please comment, change, etc. I recommend that we drop item 1.5 as a duplicate of 1.2, define 2.5 (integration testing), and drop 2.16 as it is covered in code reviews. Megan should define what test plans are. Need some work around licensing, too. As time allows, I will write up some of the checklists, where they are defined elsewhere. - Mark Knoop, Peter wrote: > Sure go for it, Mark. Re: Proposed Scorecard EvaluationI'm all for combining Usability & Ease of Use (1.5 & 1.2). As I described in a comment on the definitions page, most definitions of usability include the ease of use as one of the components. I also added to the definition for the usability scorecard item to align it with the code review. A usability review team can evaluate against accepted Sakai and industry practices. We may also want to gain consensus on the evaluation method (also added a comment about this). Or perhaps that's a decision for the usability review team. I think the user testing scorecard item should similarly be the results of a formal user testing team. -Daphne On Jul 16, 2008, at 8:15 AM, Mark Norton wrote: > I have entered initial definitions for the scorecard items at: > http://confluence.sakaiproject.org/confluence/display/SCORE/Scorecard+Item+Definitions > > These are very preliminary.
