Seam 2.2.0.CR1 testing results

Hi!

I'm sending you results of the Seam 2.2.0.CR1 testing. We focused on JDK
1.6 / JBoss 5.1.0 GA as this is the platform that EAP 5 is based on.

We have found four critical/blocker issues (seam-gen, JBDS: JBSEAM-4265,
JBSEAM-4258, JBSEAM-4257, JBSEAM-4266) and thus I think that we should
go with a CR2 release and run all the tests again to ensure that the
resolved bugs don't break anything. Jozef will be back at work by
tomorrow, so the CR2 testing should be faster that the CR1.

Although I have closed JBSeam-4269 as a duplicate of JBSEAM-4266, I'm
not all that sure it's the same bug.

We haven't tested Portlet Bridge and Tomcat 6. We are going to test
tomcat 6 tomorrow.

Thanks Jozef for testing the seam-gen even though he was on PTO!

Ondra

This would be ideal, but timelines for EAP would make this hard. Tiho
is going to fix the Drools issue, and I think Norman is on the others.

We'll have to port the fixes to the tag, and do some spot tests to
check it is working. Norman, can you take care of the port. Ondrej,
are you able to do some spot tests early tomorrow?

Tiho, can you reply here when you are satisfied with your fixes...

I'm waiting for the Search guys to get back to me on the hibernate search unit test problem.  They indicated it might be a couple of days.  All the other issues have been resolved.

As a heads up - I'll be out from saturday-wednesday, so if we are going to get this out, we should really try and do it tomorrow or friday morning.

Oh, I forgot... We wanted to test the Tomcat 6 support + JBoss embedded
today. But given the tight timeline for EAP5, and the fact that 2.2.0 is
mainly for EAP 5 -- what if we put off the tomcat testing until some
future version?

I agree we can leave that for now - there have been no changes to the
code base afaik that would particularly affect Tomcat. Norman, shout
if you think otherwise...

The hibernate changes did affect embedded JBoss use in unit tests (the hibernate search issue we need resolved for GA)  so it's not entirely a given that tomcat deployments are without issues.  But, I think our coverage between jboss and embedded is probably good.

Are we good for release tomorrow?  I've got the pieces uploaded and the docs have already been sent to helpdesk to go live.  So, it should be pretty easy to pull the trigger tomorrow before my trip.

I've run functional tests for Tomcat 6 and Tomcat 6 + JBoss Embedded
and these 2 issues have emerged:

The QE team has finished testing the 2.2.0.CR1 release.

There are 4 bugs still opened (1 critical, 2 major and 1 minor):
https://jira.jboss.org/jira/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?reset=true&&pid=10071&version=12313445&version=12312739&sorter/field=issuekey&sorter/order=DESC&sorter/field=priority&sorter/order=DESC
(There are also 2 feature requests)

As I said we focused on JBoss AS 5.1.0 nad Sun JDK 6, but we also did
some tests on JBoss 4.2.3 and/or JDK 5. Jozef caught up on the Tomcat 6
and Tomcat 6 + JBoss Embedded testing (good job Jozef!), so the only
thing we didn't test is the obligatory Portal bridge.

I was offline last week so sorry for the late followup:

How did the JBDS/JBossTools testing go ?
Did it work besides you receive a warning about 2.1 not being 2.2 ?

There is one major opened bug now for JBDS:
