Seam examples via JBoss Tools Project Examples + CheatsheetsHi,
I thought you might be interested in this. We've started adding the Seam examples to our Project Examples feature in JBoss Tools/Developer Studio. Primarily because they are very well documented and that users are asking "how to run the examples in eclipse". So Snjezana have been doing a couple proof of concepts, the last one being the "Message" example. http://www.screencast.com/users/Snjeza/folders/Jing/media/a8430ad8-a642-4e5b-9559-5923e1424242 Please take a look at the screencast above and let me know what you think. We haven't uploaded this to project examples yet, but will do shortly - especially if you give us feedback ;) p.s. the screencast shows Maven updating dependencies but that is just m2eclipse running - it is not a requirement to use this. /max _______________________________________________ seam-dev mailing list seam-dev@... https://lists.jboss.org/mailman/listinfo/seam-dev |

Re: Seam examples via JBoss Tools Project Examples + CheatsheetsI really would like to hear if you guys are interested in this ?
Snjezana added more movies to https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBIDE-4180 showing this feature of and reminded me that if you want to try it out then add the following line to your eclipse.ini -Dorg.jboss.tools.project.examples.xml=https://anonsvn.jboss.org/repos/jbosstools/workspace/examples/project-examples-3.0.xml /max Max Rydahl Andersen wrote: > Hi, > > I thought you might be interested in this. > > We've started adding the Seam examples to our Project Examples feature > in JBoss Tools/Developer Studio. > Primarily because they are very well documented and that users are > asking "how to run the examples in eclipse". > So Snjezana have been doing a couple proof of concepts, the last one > being the "Message" example. > > http://www.screencast.com/users/Snjeza/folders/Jing/media/a8430ad8-a642-4e5b-9559-5923e1424242 > > > Please take a look at the screencast above and let me know what you > think. Re: Seam examples via JBoss Tools Project Examples + CheatsheetsLooks great :-)
We should update the Seam docs too to discuss this when you have it in place - can you create a JIRA issue when it's working ootb? Re: Seam examples via JBoss Tools Project Examples + CheatsheetsOn Fri, May 8, 2009 at 7:43 AM, Max Rydahl Andersen <max.andersen@...> wrote: Hi, I think this is exactly what users have been wanting for a long time (I can speak from personal experience as I first go into Seam). It's quite typical to open up an example, not really know what you are looking at, and decide it isn't of any value. But when someone walks you through each property and method, you hit that real "Aha!" moment. So if there is some way we can figure out how to maintain these examples in a reasonable way, I'm confident they will prove their value. Honestly, it's easier to work on the documentation of an example than it is to explain a concept, so it shouldn't be too painful to keep them up to date. At the same time, we need to keep the number of examples within reason so that we don't overwhelm the users and ourselves. I think we have too many mediocre examples in Seam (some really good ones, but a lot of okay ones) and we should trim and tighten.
I figured that. -- Dan Allen Senior Software Engineer, Red Hat | Author of Seam in Action http://mojavelinux.com http://mojavelinux.com/seaminaction http://in.relation.to/Bloggers/Dan NOTE: While I make a strong effort to keep up with my email on a daily basis, personal or other work matters can sometimes keep me away from my email.
