Search on a custom text field / Plugin

Hi,
I've got a custom text field where the value VCR-RIN-0007 is entered.
I'm now searching/filtering on this field entering the value V*7 but I don't get any results back. Is the the term VCR-RIN-0007 recognized as one or more words?

In addition, is there a plugin available to extend the quick search function allowing me to search also on custom text fields?

Thanks, Chris

What is the portlet?

I have the same issue:
Custom fields with "Text Field (< 255 characters)" field type (which comes with JIRA) do not show up\not available in JIRA portlet as a "groupable" field.

For example, if I have a field "User ID" which is Text Field (< 255 characters), it doesn't show up in XAxis or YAxis dropdown list in Two Dimensional Filter Statistics portlet.

What's the workaround\solution\third party plugin for this?

Hi Royce,

the portlet can be found under http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRAEXT/Enhanced+FreeText+Searcher

However, you need to build the plugin by yourself, as the JAR-File is not available.

The source files can be found under

http://svn.atlassian.com/fisheye/browse/public/contrib/jira/enhanced-freetext-searcher

Please also read the comments from Robert Halter under the link:
http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRAEXT/Enhanced+FreeText+Searcher

Hope that helps.
Cheers, Chris

Thanks for reply Chris.

Hmmm... too bad the plugin is not readily available.
