Serious v11.4 Error--The Connection for this process disrupted....

Okay, I was hoping that v11.4 would resolve this problem but it has
not...  the error reads:

--------------------------------------------------
The connection for this process has been disrupted or the connection
couldn't be established.

A serious error occurred while a request was being sent to the server.
You should quit or restart the database as soon as possible.
--------------------------------------------------

The database is all web interface and it uses two copies of 4D to
connect to the server (as 4D Client would) from a different machine to
run reports...  it's this process that was running fine (no code
changes) and now these errors have appeared.

Any thoughts about a possible solution???

Thanks,

Robert

Robert,

How long were your two "4D Client's" running before this started
occuring?

We have been having that message, as well as similar problems with
lost connections for some time with v11.4. So far, nothing we've tried
has helped. Please post to the list in the event you do find an answer.

It was running for months...  this is a new v11 problem for us...  it
started last week on 11.3 and has continued with 11.4.

BTW: I ran a verify and it reported some "data file damage" so I'm
running a repair routine that seems to be doing a compaction. Oddly
the same screen showed that the records and indexes were okay... but
the data file was damaged.

Let me know if you find a solution too.

Be doubly sure that you're running the same builds on every client machine.

v11 server evidently does not like to talk to diverse builds.

I've got one system on 11.4 that has this problem constantly with clients connecting from one location, though not others. I'm thinking maybe it's a latency problem?

Justin,

V11 was specifically written to work efficient in higher-latency networks.

I understand that, and for the most part v11 has been great for WAN connections. I'm saying I have a v11 system that specifically chokes with "process lost connection" error from one site, but not others. I just assumed that location had a crummy internet connection (and it may well might), but if others are having the same issue it makes me wonder the cause.

Justin,

Some data file damage was found and has been repaired....  since then,
this issue has gone away.
