Shutdown takes nearly one minute

Hi,

I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 on different PCs. On my new notebook (HP 550) the shutdown takes about one minute. First the known ubuntu screen appears (the one with the progress bar) and then there is a message like that:

[490.534523452] Power down

This screen remains for about 40 seconds, then the computer turns off. It is really nasty to wait one minute on every power down. So has anyone an idea what is going on?

Regards,
Jason

Hi  Jason

Do you have any shares mounted?
E.g. using SMB or NFS.

If they are not unmounted properly they may cause your shutdown process
to wait for them to time out.
Check in your /etc/fstab file.

Just a suggestion :)
