So your tests folder was added locally but not yet committed? Even in this
case, the switch should preserve the scheduling for addition. Is it possible
that the tests folder was added in a directory which exists (committed) on
trunk, but not on the branch? This would explain the behavior you have seen.

I would have committed tests on trunk, if work was ready or committed
unfinished work to a personal branch. Then working copy is clean, switch will
work and in the branch you can merge those revisions from trunk resp. your
personal branch which are necessary to get your tests-folder merged.

With some more testing I've found that SmartSVN 1.3 does not exhibit this behavior, so I'm assuming that SmartSVN 1.3 is based on Subversion 1.4.x.

Hello,

I have been trying to find a workaround for issue 3242 (1), which prevents users that do not have access to the repository root from creating a branch.

My server is 1.5.7. I have found that if I use the 1.4.6 command line client, a user without access to the repository root can still create a branch. Given that, I was hoping that a version of SmartSVN based on Subversion 1.4.x would have this same behavior.

I assumed that SmartSVN 4 was based on Subversion 1.4.x (however this was not indicated in the About dialog, and could not find it indicated elsewhere). However, with SmartSVN 4.0.11, I see the same behavior I observe with the 1.5.x command line client.

Specifically, when I try to create a branch as a user without read access to the repository root, I see the following error:

Server sent unexpected return value (403 Forbidden) in response to PROPFIND request for <root>

Is there a version of SmartSVN based on Subversion 1.4.x that might not exhibit this behavior?

In my project, I was working on the project trunk doing unit testing.

Then my tech leader told me to switch to a branch to work on new
features.

After switching to the branch (works great btw), my unit test folder
became haunted. It now has a "+" sign and a "!" badge on the parent /
tests folder. All the children directories have a "+" badge. A file I
was working on in the trunk shows local modifications. Hovering over
the parent /tests folder I see a tooltip with tons of info "Tree
conflict: local edit, incoming delete upon switch".

What I would expect is that the switch to the branch, which clearly
doesn't have /tests, would render the /tests folder unversioned
relative to the branch.

What do I do? I want to get the /tests stuff into the branch without
updating the entire branch from trunk...

Also, was do I do about files with local state "History Scheduled" ?

I realize these may be general svn questions and not SmartSVN
questions per se.

Thanks for pointing out this problem. Actually, SmartSVN 6.5 should replace
SmartSVN 6 when installed via installer, though this should not happen for the
beta version. We have now removed installer bundles for the beta version. The
portable bundle should be used instead. We consider SmartSVN 6.5 rather stable
(knock on wood!), so it might be fine for you to run only this version.

Thanks for pointing out this problem. Actually, SmartSVN 6.5 should replace
SmartSVN 6 when installed via installer, though this should not happen for the
beta version. We have now removed installer bundles for the beta version. The
portable bundle should be used instead. We consider SmartSVN 6.5 rather stable
(knock on wood!), so it might be fine for you to run only this version.

In only 5 minutes, I am already floored with the extra functionality! Just the ability to do branch filtering and showing merge arrows in the revision graph is, by itself, well worth a new version for me.

However, I wanted to use both 6 and 6.5 side by side as the NOTE on the download page said would work. However, installing 6.5 uninstalled 6 without me knowing.

Initial import failed (access denied) except when running ProcessMonitor

I just setup VisualSVN as the Subversion server and am running SmartSVN as my client. I setup my repository and went to do the initial import. However, after I setup the import and went to commit, it would fail at various points with an "Cannot lock working copy FILEPATH&NAME Access Denied."

However, while troubleshooting what had the files in use I found that if I ran ProcessMonitor while doing the commit, it succeeded every time. I am wondering what I need to do to fix this problem so that I don't have to run ProcMon whenever I want to commit something.

My System:
Windows Vista Enterprise
Intel Core 2 T7200 2.00GHz
2GB RAM
Just Ghosted to 350GB HD from 60GB all is running fine.
On a domain.

VisualSVN Server 2.0.8 on Windows Server 2003 R2 Ent. Ed.
SmartSVN 6.0.8 (Build Date: 2009-10-27)

I've now tried to reproduce this problem on my test-systems (Win 2000 and Win
XP Pro, latest system updates but otherwise clean) using
setup-6_0_7-nojre.exe, smartsvn-build-6_0_7-r9374.zip and
setup-6_0_8-nojre.exe. Unfortunately, I never could reproduce it - installing
the 6.0.8 update always overwrote the manually modified jar files. The problem
is, as long as I can't reproduce the problem, I can't verify whether a change
to our installer script fixes the problem.

* I changed my original installation by replacing some libs with pre-6.0.8
libs announced on this mailing list
* Update didn't work, twice, even when stopping the service and stopping
smartsvn
* Uninstall left the replaced libs around in the installation folder, and
I think that this is the reason for the update not working.
* I removed those libs and installed again, now it is working

same account as installing the update? Or are you using a non-administrator

Can you tell which operations are causing the prompt (execution of SVN
commands, Transactions view, ...)? Might authentication sporadically fail on
the server side? Please set system property
"smartsvn.default-connection-logging", for details refer to:

http://www.syntevo.com/smartsvn/documentation.html?page=vmoptions#vmoptions.smartsvn.default-connection-logging

And send us the connection.log file once you have been asked for a password
again.

Same thing happened to us from 6.0.5 to 6.0.6. It was fine for us this
time around.

I do keep having the login/password prompt pop up every day or so,
though. It's rather irritating. I have checked the 'save password' box
numerous times and it always pops back up a few days later. I don't
have a master password set. Is this a known bug?

Did you try to reintegrate merge with SmartSVN (though it will most likely
result in the same conflicts)? Was the two-trees merge actually equivalent to
the reintegrate merge, according to:

Hi,

I have TortoiseSVN client 1.6.6 on my machine and using it for long.

We were trying to merge from a branch to the trunk "Reintegrate the
branch" Merge option and it showed many conflicts as listed in file
below.Just tried this merge again by doing fresh checkout from trunk and
the branch and result was still the same.

So when investigated further,for conflicts in few of these files,found
out that these files should not have been in conflicts.

Permission denied: connectsvn: OPTIONS request failed on '/SVN/Proj1'

I'm getting this error when I try to connect in any way (connect, update, commit, etc) to our HTTPS SVN server from outside our network. I've never had this problem before; connections inside the network all work fine, connections outside the network all work fine (excepting this), and connections through a web browser all work fine (inside and outside the network).

I can find nothing wrong in the Apache logs (password mismatch, etc), and the system works fine for other users. We are running Subversion 1.5.4 and using SmartSVN 6.0.7

Could this be a firewall problem on the client end? If so, why would it work for the web browser requests, but not the SmartSVN requests?

I've been having trouble finding info on what this error means and what could cause it, so any help would be appreciated

Folder Deleted Stucked in "Directory is scheduled for removal"

Steps to Reproduce :

1. Delete Folder Locally.
2. Check that folder in SmartSVN control.
3. Folder is seen with red mark.
4. Remove folder from SVN control.
5. Folder is with flag "Directory is scheduled for removal".

But this folder is never removed from SmartSVN control.

Please open the Project Settings and on "Working Copy" page, select "(Re)set
to Commit-Times after manipulating local files".

So "projects" is your root directory which needs not to be versioned?
"project.file" should be versioned and a couple of "project" directories are
already versioned. I would recommend to

- get some private space in the repository for yourself resp. all team members
which need this IDE layout

- use Project|Import into Repository for your "projects" root. This will
create an .svn directory in projects/ root. Your "project" directories will
show up as "nested root". You may now use Edit Externals on the "projects"
root to configure your "project" directories as externals (be sure to use the
correct URLs, as already present in your "project"-directories) and
"project.file" as file external. All other files/directories can be ignored.

When I check out a new project from our server using SSVN 5.0.6, the file date-times of the files on my local hard disk are the current date-times rather than the time the files were last modified or last checked in.

I feel silly asking this, because I figure it must be simple. But I've looked and have been unable to find a way to configure SSVN to retain the last modified date when checking out.

Any help?
