Dear all;

Can someone suggest for any South American (Bolivia, Brazil etc) Microfinance institutions to visit in order to understand technology innovations and to learn best practices in microfinance.

We are an Apex organization working on poverty alleviation in Pakistan by mainly providing financial products to Poor through our partner organizations e.g NGO's, MFI's, FFIs, MFBs etc.

Thanks

Asghar

Dear Asghar
In Bolivia I suggest you meet with FINRURAL, the national association
of MFi which has been developing and elaborating practices that are
regarded among the best ones. FINRURAL is about to start a sovereign
APEX, as well.

Dear Asghar,

CrediAmigo is most successful model MFI from Brazil for the study, it was launched by the state-owned development bank Banco do Nordeste do Brasil (BNB), with assistance from the World Bank.  CrediAmigo has the largest percentage of clients in Brazil (approximately 60%) and is now seen as an example of a successful Brazilian MFI.

While for Bolivia, BancoSol is one of the best and leading Institution which can be studied. BancoSol have approximately 800.000 micro enterprises, largely urban, that form part of this informal economy and generate over 1.7 million jobs for the economically active population.

Best regards,
Kashif Gillani

Dear Asghar,
There are a couple of Bolivian MFIs listed on the World Microfinance Map here: http://www.seattlemicrofinance.org/world-microfinance-map

I would also encourage other microfinance related organizations who'd like to be included on the map to send me your location and a link to your website. Email me at ryan@...
