Species Designations and StatusesJNCC, statutory adviser to Government on nature conservation, have
compiled a useful and convenient spreadsheet listing all of the species in the UK with a conservation status designation (Red List, Birds of Conservations Concern, W&CA, and so on) along with detail on what designations apply to which species. You can download the spreadsheet here: http://www.jncc.gov.uk/page-3408 Some blurb from the website: Over the past thirty years, numerous lists of conservation status have been produced - Red Lists, Biodiversity Action Plan Priority Lists, species listed on European Directives, species listed on the Schedules of the Wildlife & Countryside Act, together with lists of rare and scarce species. There is considerable overlap between these and some species appear on several of them - for example the otter Lutra lutra, and the marsh saxifrage Saxifraga hirculus have as many as six "badges". JNCC has attempted to collate many of the current lists into one place and make this available to users as a downloadable spreadsheet of species designations. -- Charles Roper Biodiversity IT Officer Sussex Biodiversity Record Centre http://sxbrc.org.uk | 01273 497554 Sussex Wildlife Trust is a company limited by guarantee under the Companies Act. Re: Species Designations and StatusesIt's a shame that most of these are so out of date and JNCC shows no
interest whatsoever in updating them. There are National Reviews which are complete and have been waiting for JNCC to publish them for nearly 10 years now! Re: Species Designations and StatusesTony,
If you let me know which reviews you are referring to I will endeavour to contact the relevant people within JNCC to see if I can get an update on the situation.
