Speech Therapy and ATPutting on my Speech and Language Therapist hat ... can I ask if there are
any good sites that provide information about Assistive Technologies relevant to communication needs that you use to find out more about the technologies themselves rather than the types of therapy available. It is just that I am not finding that many in the UK but I am probably missing a trick although I do use several company sites. This is related to the work I have been doing for JISC TechDis on their AT and AAC site http://techdis.palepurple.co.uk/sites/techdis Once again many thanks for all your help Best wishes E.A. Re: Speech Therapy and ATACE centre does specialise in AAC..
We do have a system that should be rolling out in the new year - Speech Bubble - that will list all communication aids - their features, pictures, specs, etc.. and allow you to compare aspects of them (e.g. vocab's, symbols, mounting etc).. So keep your eyes peeled for that - its still having its data populated which as you can imagine is taking a little while.. All the best Will 2009/9/30 Steve Lee <steve@...>: > 2009/9/30 E.A. Re: Speech Therapy and AT [Scanned][Spam score:8%]The directory from our website is actually the database that the ACE Centre in Oxford have created and currently working on, I think they felt that the old one was out of date and so have taken it off in preparation for the new one.

Re: Speech Therapy and ATThanks so much everyone and I shall definitely get the links in for Speech
Bubble and it was lovely reading Charlie Danger's pages. I have a feeling I may have to look at each company page to see if there is more information on software to aid articulation and voice improvements as this seems to be the missing link so far. Need to get research project funds somehow, otherwise I can see myself just adding them to EmpTech which also needs a major revamp!! Was meant to happen this summer - just too much on - 2010 had better be a little less frantic! Thanks again for all the help. Best wishes E.A. Mrs E.A. Re: Speech Therapy and AT [Scanned][Spam score:8%]Absolutely fair enough - just miss it as its the only one we signpost
people to that covers this range of kit. Good luck in getting the new one up and running and let us know if FAST can help publicise the new one. The other thing we could discuss is linking this database with the Disabled Living Foundation living made easy website as they don't cover this range of kit and may consider prominent signposting to the new site.
