Squeezing "Show Keyboard Status" indicator into KDE 4.2

Due to disability, I cannot move to KDE 4.x until this issue is resolved:

I have spoken with the developer and he is confident that the applet
is ready to move from review to plasma-addons, someone just needs to
do it. He hinted that due to the accessibility nature of this issue,
and the maturity of the applet code, that an exception could be
granted to squeeze this applet into KDE 4.2. Can this be done? KDE
3.5.10 (my current desktop) is no longer supported by my distro and
remaining with the KDE 3 branch means that I will have other, more
critical software outdated on my production machine.

Hi Dotan,

The place to ask would actually be the kde-core-devel mailing list where such
things are handled, but I suspect it will be just too late for this now
(policykit-kde was recently rejected for late inclusion).  

I think your best chance would be to actually request your distro to package
it separately.  I think you're on openSUSE, right?  There shouldn't be too
much issue getting it included, perhaps even back-ported, if not in the
official repos then somewhere in the Build Service.

Thanks, John. I am using Kubuntu on this laptop for the hardware
support, unfortunately this Dell makes me married to Ubuntu. I will
file an issue, but accessibility is _not_ a priority on Ubuntu.
(unless I mention that Windows has this feature, haha, Ubuntu seems to
only care about eating MS's lunch).
