Two questions if you will...

Is there an advantage to using a std vs compact script?

Is there a faq page or maxq documentation other than that at http://maxq.tigris.org/docs?

Thanks,

I assume you've found

http://maxq.tigris.org/docs/compactgen.html

I added compact scripts because I found the old style contained a lot of
useless repetition, which makes the scripts harder to read and edit.
The standard (old) script is retained because users expressed a
preference for it.

There is no other documentation beyond what's on
http://maxq.tigris.org/docs/.
