Statically linked versionHi, With great pleasure, I have been using Workrave on my Windows machine for some months now. However, we are now moving to a secure environment (for Unix) where all of us get a thin-client to connect to a secure Linux (Redhat/KDE) environment. However, system management is not willing to installing Workrave in the secure environment (it is non-standard :-() and we as users don't have root permission... As a result, I am now forced to switch back to Workpace and pay for an expensive Linux licence since their Linux distribution runs out of the box (one executable without any dependancies on libraries) which I can simply install in my local directory. Of course, I would like to spend my money on other things... So, is it possible to provide a statically linked version of Workrave? Kind regards, -Paul Hoogendijk. |

You are not the first one to ask for statically linked Workrave... I'll give it another try. Unfortunately, Debian doesn't have static versions of some of the libraries Workrave depends on, so I will have to recompile these Debian packages first.... I expect to have an statically linked version early next week. This might solve my problem where I haven't been able to build Workrave 1.9.0 for my main computer. I could build it statically on another computer with more recent libraries, and then copy the binary. Any suggestions? -- Joe ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ Workrave-user mailing list Workrave-user@... https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/workrave-user |

You may have some more luck :-) You can try something like this: CFLAGS=-static CXXFLAGS=-static ./configure make Groetjes, Rob ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ Workrave-user mailing list Workrave-user@... https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/workrave-user |

Has anyone ever succeeded with any version? If so, can they please report what they did?
