Stepping down for a while

Hello batik-dev.

This is to let you know that I will be officially taking a break from
Batik development for a few months while I work on finishing my
university studies (although in reality I haven’t actually been active
over the last year or so).  I won’t be following the mailing lists
during this time.

One person at SVG Open the other week suggested that it would be good
for Batik to have another release to incorporate the bug fixes that have
been made since the 1.7 release, if any of the other developers have
time to organise this.

Thanks Thomas and Helder for managing the mailing lists so well!

     Thanks for letting us know and good luck finishing up University.
Also thanks for the hard work on Batik, your addition of animation was
a huge boost, as well as the many other improvements/additions.

    I agree it would be good to role out the various bug fixes etc.
I have some work I'd need to do on my end first (getting a usable
regard instance) but I'll try to get to it some time.

Yup, there seems to be a lot of interesting fixes, specially regarding
declarative animation (which seems to be gaining momentum as several
Web browsers start to support it also).

I'm also in the process of merging a couple of different checkouts in
separate machines into a single one and hope to be able to help a bit
more in the medium run (less noise should lead to more productivity!),
although I must confess that the silence in commenting bugs and
reviewing/committing patches is a bit discouraging... I'll try to be
more annoying (pinging more often) to see if it helps. ;-D
