Sticky Node in the directory window

Hello all:
Is there a way to make a node the top-level node in the directories
window. At this point, It shows all the files and directories on the
file system path starting at the root node "/". I want it to show only
the project directory, as there are many files.

thank you.

Hi,

Sorry, i do not understand what you mean? Do you use ECB 2.40? It kaes the directory node sticky as long there are subdirectories or files in the directory to display...

Maybe you have to submit an example... An "ascii-screenshot"...

Ciao,
Klaus

Hi Mansour,

Yes, of course this is possible - but maybe in another way you imagine...The directories buffer can not simply hide all other directories but what it (and you) can do is: adding that directory you want to have at the toplevel as new source-path (see the option `ecb-source-path' for description, one of the most important options!)...

And you are even more lucky, because ECB offers you are very convenient way to make a directory a source-path:
Just open the popup-menu for the directory (probably mouse-button 3) and you will see an entry "make this a source path" - just click it and ECB will ask you for commitment (and for an alias - if you want one - see again `ecb-source-path')... At the end ECB will ask you if you want save this new source-path also for future sessions - say "y" if you need this directoy a lot the next time...

After that Bob will be your uncle... And you will have your previously deeply located subdir as new source-path at top-level;-)
When opening a file via [C-x C-f] (i.e. not via the source-window of ECB) then ECB will autom. Choose the best-matching (= deepest matching) source-path for ist directory-window...

If you do not need a source-path furthermore just click again with 3rd mouse button on it an click "Delete source path"....

Does this help?
Klaus

Hello Klaus:

When you open a file, ecb directories window shows the file with it's parent as a subdirectory of the file system, for example

/
|-- bin
|-- boot
|-- dev
|-- etc
|-- home
    |-- mansour
    |   |--projects
    |       |--myProject
    |           |--subdir1
    |           |--subdir2
    |           |--subdir3
    |           |--subdir4
    |-- manyotherfilesAnd directories
|-- lib -> lib64/
|-- lib64
|-- lost+found
|-- media
|-- mnt
|-- opt
|-- proc
|-- root
|-- sbin
|-- sys
|-- tmp
|-- usr
`-- var

Of course this is simple exmaple, but when the project I am working on is buried deep then the tree is bigger. The way I want it to look is:

|--myProject
   |--subdir1
   |--subdir2
   |--subdir3
   |--subdir4

Is this possible ?
