Strange Mail Sending When Receiving Mail

I've noticed something in Mail App's behaviour recently that has me
wondering.

Occasionally when I push the Get Mail button (I get mail manually), as
it starts
to get mail, I notice the  Sent  mailbox will change to  Sending, as
if there had been
pending drafts to go out, but there are none / were none . . .

I'm beginning to worry if there is something shady going on with my
machine.
Are there any special daemons installed that send logging or status
messages
via Mail ?

Are there any logs I can look at that might alert me to outgoing SMTP
activity?

     Cheers,
         . . . . . . . .    Henry

It's not sending, it's checking the sent mail box to synchronize it to
the sent mail on the server.

You can watch lsof or tcpdump.

Overhead, without any fuss, the stars were going out.
