Submitting to BlueshareHi,
This morning I tried to submit an instrument to Blueshare, but I got an error 500. A minute ago I tried again, but with the same error. Is there a problem with the server? Re: Submitting to BlueshareHi Mark,
I'm not sure what's going on with the error 500, but I'm seeing two new entries on the site: http://blue.kunstmusik.com/ I also downloaded the instrument through blueShare in the program (Interesting sounds! i tried using the different presets but for some reason the sound of the project did not change much. I'm not sure what happened there.) steven On Mon, Mar 2, 2009 at 11:53 AM, Mark Van Peteghem <Mark.Van.Peteghem@...> wrote: > Hi, > > This morning I tried to submit an instrument to Blueshare, but I got an > error 500. Re: Submitting to BlueshareHi Steven,
I tried four times, got an error every time, but it is added twice, probably because I wasn't sure about my password so I tried different ones. Btw, it also took a long time, about a minute, before I got the error message. I now removed one of them. I downloaded it again and tried it, and the different presets are still very different here. E.g. the cat should be very different from catastrophe. I don't know what went wrong on your side. Maybe you accidentally selected different presets in the library instead of the copy in the orchestra? I really like the instrument, chorusing and flanger make nice effects. The interface may seem complex, but there is a logic behind it, it is explained in the commentary. Re: Submitting to BlueshareAh, you were right! I was selecting presets in the library
instrument! :P And wow, yes, it's great to try out the many presets that you setup. Very nice! Otherwise, it seems that some presets are louder than others. Is there any balancing going on depending on the different filters/oscillators used? I'm wondering if the server had a hiccup and was taking a while. Otherwise, I'll have to investigate further. Could you file a bug in the tracker? I'll investigate when I can. Re: Submitting to BlueshareI did a sort of balancing with the Volume adjust knob. For every preset
I adjusted this so that the maximum amplitude is just below 0dbfs, using a UDO I wrote for that purpose. I noticed that this information is still printed, I turned that off and uploaded a new version (you can easily turn it on again) - this doesn't affect the loudness of course. If a preset has a short peak, the preset will sound quieter before and after that peak, maybe that is what you noticed. I just submitted the bug to the tracker. Submitting to BlueshareHello Steven,
i have Blue running on a XP system but there is no internet connection. I logged in on http://blue.kunstmusik.com/ on another machine to try and download this instrument from Blueshare and put it on an USB stick. This did not work, the instrument cannot be downloaded this way? Is it possible or can it be made possible to be able to download instruments and effects from this site? greetings Menno |

Re: Submitting to BlueshareHi Menno,
I think this should be doable, but I need to revisit the code to see how the data is stored in the server. My guess is that it should be no problem. Could you file a Request for Enhancement on the blue tracker for this? I'm in the process of redoing some things on my server currently and I can try to hit this while I'm looking at the other stuff. Re: Submitting to BlueshareHi Mark,
Perhaps I was driving the sounds a bit much, or together with the reverb I set in the mixer it was getting some overloads. Not a big issue, but some presets seemed to get some samples out of range. One thing I am thinking though is that I really do need to migrate my library to use 0dbfs. I do like how you had the values from 0-1 work as well as -db, as I prefer to use positive values in thinking about ampltude, so I will have to look at your code more closely and migrate to using it. \ Thanks very much for sharing your instrument!!! steven On Tue, Mar 3, 2009 at 2:40 AM, Mark Van Peteghem <Mark.Van.Peteghem@...> wrote: > I did a sort of balancing with the Volume adjust knob. You can then save that project on your USB-stick and load it on the Internet-less computer. -- Mark _________________________________________ When you get lemons, you make lemonade. Re: Submitting to BlueshareHi Steven,
Using positive values as a fraction of 0dbfs and negative values as an argument for ampdbfs is actually a compromise because I know some people prefer values between 0 and 1 for the volume (and I want people to like me :-p). I started using ampdbfs after the recent discussion about it on the Csnd-group, before that I used ampdb, but it takes some getting used to to use negative values. I think it would be a good thing indeed if all instruments did it like that, just like the popular UDO getFrequency.
