Hi all,

Thank you to everyone who gave me such good ideas for the Summit
keynote screencast. The fruit of your ideas can be seen here:

http://www.aparajitaworld.com/site/products/Active4D/screencasts.php

Hope you enjoy it. I will be doing many more screencasts in the weeks
and months to come. Here is what I have lined up:

- Installing Active4D
- Active4D basic concepts
- Language enhancements
- Enhanced string handling
- Collections
- Array enhancements
- Regular expressions
- Libraries
- Understanding and using sessions
- RowSets
- Fusebox: concepts
- Fusebox: building a site
- URL mapping with the On Request handler

If you have any suggestions for topics, I am interested to hear them.

Kind regards,

    Aparajita

Hello Aparajita

You are a multitalent. A super demonstration. My english is not very
good, but I did understand all immediately.
You should publish it as podcast too.

Regards, Oliver

Aparajita, excellent screencast.  Impressive on all fronts: content,
presentation, results (of using A4D).
Plus, I now know how to pronounce your name! :-)

Seriously, the demo makes it very alluring for any 4D developer to try out
A4D.  The ease looks compelling.

That said, your presentation shows the power of a screencast.  May I ask
what tool(s) did you use to make your screencast?

Thanks,

Scott

Active 4D and Wakanda

Aparajita,

With LR moving into "Wakanda" development (whatever that really is),
how does Wakanda impact the future of Active 4D?

Thanks in advance.

Wakanda is based on JavaScript, and is an application server with a
database engine. It does not replace 4D, and certainly not today..

Active4D works today, and I'm raring to get a stable 4Dv11 so that I can
start my projects :)

Mehboob Alam

In the time since I started with 4D (1987) I have seen so many "great,
new, groundbreaking, ... " technology projects by 4D, and ALL of them,
bar NONE, have sooner or later been swept under the rug, never to be
mentioned again.

Some of you may remember how pissed Laurent still reacts when taunted
with a 4D Universal T-shirt...

Sadly they never made any memorabilia for Goldfinger.

I will believe it when it has a box and a price tag and some shelf
space at Amazon...

So to me, Active4D with the JavaScript Framework of your choice is
still the safest bet for my money!

Cheers

Alex

There was one tantalizing detail about Wakanda.. the "server" is
faceless, so it may also be available for Linux and "cloud"-platforms...

and the Wakanda data-engine will have replication/synchronization
capabilities with 4Dv11.

ScreenFlow for the screen recording, Audio Hijack Pro for the sound
recording. And a good microphone. I borrowed a friend's mic for that
screencast, since then I bought an Audio-Technica AT2020USB.

Currently, v12 will not be able to execute PHP in a Webserver context.
This is very pity for me, but good for you, now.

But, how many 4D programmers know PHP? I think 80 percent of 4D
developers had not worked with XML or SVG...
