Swim race age categories

The categories of ages seem too broad. Don't you think it should be broken up? Especially the "40-99" category.

I'd tend to agree with Stew NY, if I were 70, I wouldn't want to be lumped with a 40 year old!  Then again, when I reach 70, I hope I still am fit enough to even consider swimming across the Hudson!

The age categories are broad.  If there were more participants in the race perhaps the categories would be narrowed.  One of the things is if the categories are too narrow every racer would get an award.  We know that everyone who fund raises and swims is a winner but I think the idea is to give special recognition to those competitors who train and push themselves in pursuit of competitive glory.

I think the solution is to spread the word and get more people involved in the race!
