Syntheway VST plugins for LinuxGreetings:
While researching VST-related materials I came across this page : http://www.syntheway.net/ Besides the inherent interest of the software listed on that site, there's the interesting point that the author has indicated FST-compatibility for his work, complete with recommended system requirements. The plugins are inexpensive (between US $30 - $40), binary-only, and no source is available. However, the little testing I did last night showed me that the plugins are very cool, with some great sounds. My tests, btw, were run on openSUSE 10.2 (JAD), with FST 1.8 (my build). Other than the annoying "reminder" the plugins sounded great. I tested the organ and choir instruments and the room emulator, I'd recommend them to anyone looking for more Linux-happy VST plugs. Anyone else here have any experience with the Syntheway plugins ? The flute plugin is really quite nice with a decent reverb added to it. --p _______________________________________________ Linux-audio-user mailing list Linux-audio-user@... http://lists.linuxaudio.org/mailman/listinfo.cgi/linux-audio-user |

Aren't there lots of variables other than the JACK, Wine and FST versions that could break the compatibility? He doesn't mention the hardware platform either. --ll _______________________________________________ Linux-audio-user mailing list Linux-audio-user@... http://lists.linuxaudio.org/mailman/listinfo.cgi/linux-audio-user |

Do you have specific variables in mind that you think would create incompatibility issues ? Note that he calls for FST 1.7, but I used 1.8 (requires lashd). I also used a different version of Wine, nor was my JACK version what he recommends. I think he's safe as long as those softs remain compatible with each other. >He doesn't mention the hardware platform either. > Well, it's pretty much gotta be a 32-bit system, probably Intel/AMD-based only, right ? I tested the plugs on an 800 MHz Duron, not exactly a swingin' machine.
