T80 don't seem to respond to any tag

Hi

I am very new to T80 though I have done NFC development on Nokia 6131. I just got it last month and when I first got it, I activate the NFC functionality in the "Settings" and try to scan a iso15693 tag without success. I could scan the same tag with a nokia 6131. Basically the phone did not vibrate or do anything at all.

my VM version is v3.3.4,20080609a

Also the battery is EXTREMELY difficult to remove from its slot. I broke my nails trying to get it out and it's still stuck. I have to use a paper clip to remove it. Very very bad design else I got a defected phone.

pls advise. All help appreciated

Hi noscon,

Since we don't have access to the ISO15693 card, we cannot test them, but we can sure you that the T80 are able to read Mifare cards.

By the way, since there are already applications installed in the Nokias (business card, messages, ...), you are able to test tags without develop any MIDlet, but the T80 is shipped without default applications, but it at least vibrates if the tag can be read. If you said your T80 doesn't reacts, let's test it with Mifare tags to be sure it is not a failure of the device, like for instance, the antenna is not in contact with the pins after you removed it to remove the battery.

Best regards,

hi jose

I have tried it with mifare iso14443a_3 tags as well and it does not respond to these tags too. I'm wondering whether the phone is defective. I have taken out the battery a few times and restarting it to rescan those tags. I have also make sure I have activated the NBFC functionality each time and place the tags near the sensor zone behind the phone.

Hi noscon,

We have been able to test the T80s at office with NFC Forum Type 1 tags (ISO 14443A) and yes, it is not able to read them. Maybe the T80s are only able to read Mifare tags, can you try any in your side?

Greetings,

Hi noscon,

We have tested Ultra Light, 1k and 4K, and all them works with the T80s we have at office.

One question more, to check if the antenna works: if you plug the Cell-Idea's microSD in the mobile, and you put the mobile over a contactless card reader, is it able to read the secure element?

Greetings,

So if you have not been able to access to the secure element inside of the mobile through the contactless card reader, we should need to check the unit to replace it or repair it. Let me check with the responsible this issue and we are going to put in contact with you to watch the best way to solve it.

Sorry for the inconvenience,
