TM 2009 ver 4.01f stallsI am having a problem when TM 2009 loads and when opening a sub window for anything, ie: Scout management, advancement, etc. Closing sub windows works fine.
For instance, when TM is started and the dotnet status window appears, the message in the window will not change until I switch to another screen, say another open program or the desktop, then back to TM. The same thing happens when I click on Scout Management, Adult Management, or any other buttons. In order for the sub window to open, I have to switch to another screen, then back to TM and the sub window will be open. The Alt key on the keyboard will also cause the sub window to open. I downloaded the update file and ran it. No change. I downloaded the full TM 2009 file, uninstalled and installed the full version. No change. I then uninstalled, then deleted the Troopmaster folder and tree off the harddrive, then reinstalled the full version. No change. Disabling the dotnet function only allows the program to start without problems, but it does not help with opening Scout Management, etc. Everything worked fine a couple of weeks ago, but last Friday I started having the problem. Any ideas? |

Re: TM 2009 ver 4.01f stallsI had some similar issues the other day. Not necessarily with TM itself, but with my Browser.
Especially when I was trying to access one of my online banking sites that requires extra Java applications to run. I noticed I didn't have the problem before downloading and installing the last couple of Windows Updates. When I went back and did a system restore to a restore point before installing the updates, I didn't have anymore problems. RE: TM 2009 ver 4.01f stallsI experienced something real similar to this the other day under Win/XP Pro.
It happened during one day, and after I opened and closed TM two or three times the problem disappeared (knock on wood). If it is still occurring for you, bring up the task manager tool by right clicking on the task bar and selecting "task Manager". Once it's running, go to the processes panel and click twice on the CPU column header. This will sort the tasks into decreasing cpu utilization priority. Watch that panel for a few minutes and watch what runs and how much CPU they use. That may tell you something about what Is happening while you are running TM (or any other program for that matter). Re: TM 2009 ver 4.01f stallsThis fix may sound weird, but try it, I think it might help:
Boot your computer. (don't skip that step) Start Troopmaster, do nothing else except: File --> Preferences --> Click the Background Tab Then Click the button "Watercolor with still water" then Click "OK" then try stuff that caused it to previously hang up. Hope that helps. --- In TMTUG@..., "stretchc30" <s.tjb@...> wrote: > > I am having a problem when TM 2009 loads and when opening a sub window for anything, ie: Scout management, advancement, etc. Closing sub windows works fine. > For instance, when TM is started and the dotnet status window appears, the message in the window will not change until I switch to another screen, say another open program or the desktop, then back to TM. I have to disable wine-gecko so HTML rendering is disabled so I can set the background to "still water" under File->Preferences. If I have moving water, TM pegs the CPU. With still water, I have no problems. |
