>> Hi Tyler,
>>
>> please read my post correctly as it says:
>>
>> >> But IMHO upgrading an extisting installation should NEVER add
>> >> something to content by default
>
>
> I did read it correctly, I just disagree with you ;-)
>
> To me that is a bit like saying that X should ever only give you the
> output or results that you desired as soon as it's installed or
> upgraded, and nothing that requires you to amend or alter it in any way.

Hi. Is it possible with CoolURI to have different configurations for
different domains in one Typo3 installation? I'd like urls for domain1 to
look like directories ie. /foo/bar/ and for domain2 i'd like them to be look
like static files ie. /foo/bar.html. Is this possible? Thx!

> Hi Peter,
>
> No offence but I think thats a bit naive of an expectation perhaps.
> Every upgrade that I can think of (from 3.6 - > 3.7 -> 3.8 - etc -> to
> 4.3) has involved slight changes and modification to how the rendering
> is done - from 'cset default' and 'content' in 3.6 to csc in v 4.3.
>
> That's just the nature of the beast and tbh in my opinion they keep
> evolving in ways for the good. Granted I wasn't happy about this wrap
> around the html items either when it first happened (as we've been using
> 4.3 beta for an upgrade for sometime now) as it involved having to go
> and rewrite how it worked in one instance. But that was only the one
> instance.
>
> Additionally there are notes as to what has changed in each instance so
> the admin can gauge if it will cause a problem. As well you can set the
> rendering mode to be a former version of csc if you want it to be.
>
> All in all I think this is fine personally.
>
> Just my 2cents
>>>>> I have a lot of HTML CE that are puting some html code together -->
>>>>> this are wrapped with this default frame too. That makes my code
>>>> I know this change should have been advertised more openly, but we
>>>> (Core devs) are doing our best. It *is* documented in the NEWS.txt
>>> Hello everybody
>>>
>>> Thanks for your feedback!
>>> I think its a good thing.. but NOT for HTML CE!
>>
>> It might be a good thing when starting a site from scratch.
>> But IMHO upgrading an extisting installation should NEVER add
>> something to content by default that changes the display by disturbing
>> the design.
>>
>> Peter.

If a admin is asked to confirm a version switch this is fine with me.

Hallo,

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} domain\.de [OR]
[...]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.domain.de/$1 [R=301,L]

[...]

# RealURL stuff
RewriteRule ^typo3$ - [L]
RewriteRule ^typo3/.*$ - [L]

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-l
RewriteRule .* index.php

Das mache ich, damit wenn jemand zu faul ist, das "www" einzugeben,
automatisch auf www.domain.de umgeleitet wird. Außer für die Subdomains
www|typo|sub1|sub2. Diese Subdomains dürfen also so eingegeben werden
und dann wird nicht umgeleitet.

Das lustige ist, das www|typo|sub1 auch so funktionieren (diese Subdoms
bestehen schon sehr lange).

RealURL vlt.? Aber warum klappen dann die anderen Subdomains?

Danke für sachdienliche Hinweise auf den Täter!
LG,
Gerd
> Betreff: Re: [TYPO3-english] Import/Export national chars problem
>
>>
>> I'm going nuts with this. Charset is the same - iso-8859-2 (forced in
>> BE). The best thing is that i have another site in the same Typo3
>> installation that is working fine. Now i tried creating minimal template
>> setup with only one Text element in BE. When i insert some national
>> characters in Text header, header is not displayed (it's wrapped with
>> stuff like <h1> bla bla) but no actual header content. If i write it with
>> english letters only its fine.
>
>
> Hi Pero,
>
> for UTF8 ist made the following settings in localconf.php:
>
> $TYPO3_CONF_VARS['BE']['forceCharset'] = 'utf-8';
> $TYPO3_CONF_VARS['SYS']['setDBinit'] = 'SET NAMES utf8'.chr(10).'SET
> character_set_connection = utf8'; // Modified or inserted by TYPO3 Install
> Tool.
> $TYPO3_CONF_VARS['SYS']['UTF8filesystem'] = 1;
>
>
> Corresponding for iso-8859-2 you should set it like follows I think:
>
> $TYPO3_CONF_VARS['BE']['forceCharset'] = 'iso-8859-2';
> $TYPO3_CONF_VARS['SYS']['setDBinit'] = 'SET NAMES iso-8859-2'.chr(10).'SET
> character_set_connection = iso-8859-2';
> $TYPO3_CONF_VARS['SYS']['UTF8filesystem'] = 0;
>
> ... Because the default-connection of TYPO3 is iso-8859-1.
>
>
> I suppose that's all but you can read the linked article if it doesn't
> work:
> http://www.bruchmann-web.de/en/support/typo3/tipps-und-tricks/utf-8-in-typo3/

David thx. I could try messing up with those settings but as I wrote, i have
two sites in the same Typo3 installation in iso-8859-2 and they work fine.
Now i tried some debugging using Admin panel->TypoScript and i can see
clearly those characters in it:

lib.stdheader.10.1
Betreff: Re: [TYPO3-english] Import/Export national chars problem

>
> I'm going nuts with this. Charset is the same - iso-8859-2 (forced in BE).
> The best thing is that i have another site in the same Typo3 installation
> that is working fine. Now i tried creating minimal template setup with only
> one Text element in BE. When i insert some national characters in Text
> header, header is not displayed (it's wrapped with stuff like <h1> bla bla)
> but no actual header content. If i write it with english letters only its
> fine.
>

Hi Pero,

for UTF8 ist made the following settings in localconf.php:

$TYPO3_CONF_VARS['BE']['forceCharset'] = 'utf-8';
$TYPO3_CONF_VARS['SYS']['setDBinit'] = 'SET NAMES utf8'.chr(10).'SET
character_set_connection = utf8';	// Modified or inserted by TYPO3
Install Tool.
$TYPO3_CONF_VARS['SYS']['UTF8filesystem'] = 1;

Corresponding for iso-8859-2 you should set it like follows I think:

$TYPO3_CONF_VARS['BE']['forceCharset'] = 'iso-8859-2';
$TYPO3_CONF_VARS['SYS']['setDBinit'] = 'SET NAMES
iso-8859-2'.chr(10).'SET character_set_connection = iso-8859-2';
$TYPO3_CONF_VARS['SYS']['UTF8filesystem'] = 0;

... Because the default-connection of TYPO3 is iso-8859-1.

I suppose that's all but you can read the linked article if it doesn't work:
http://www.bruchmann-web.de/en/support/typo3/tipps-und-tricks/utf-8-in-typo3/

Best Regards
> folder as "fileadmin" everything is OK. So I think it has something to
> do with the name of the folder and automaketemplate doesn't allow to use
> a folder outside "fileadmin".

I'm very sure that it's not automaketemplate which causes the problem
here (I currently maintain the extension :-) )

Your code
   content = FILE
   content.file = media/home/templates/page.html
is handled inside automaktemplate by
$content =
$this->cObj->cObjGetSingle($conf['content'],$conf['content.'],'content');

So I digged into this function and the way the FILE object is handled.
In the end I stumbled upon something odd in
t3lib_TStemplate::getFileName() :

01201 if (strstr($file,'/')) { // here it is manual media
01202     if(!strcmp(substr($file,0,6),'media/')) $file =
'typo3/sysext/cms/tslib/'.$file;

1161 checks if there is a '/' in the path (which is the case in your
situation)
1162 checks if the path starts with 'media/', which used to be a
symbolic link to typo3/sysext/cms/tslib/media/ in older installations,
and prepends this path to the path it was given to support the use of
media/... in newer installations.

Your media/... folder triggered this workaround.

I filed a bug report for this:
http://bugs.typo3.org/view.php?id=12794

The only solution now is to not use a directory called "media" in the
root :-(

Regards, Jigal.

Alright, I did a bit of debugging and the result is:

* It does work but the path must not start with "media/". *

For some reason, the TYPO3 developers hardcoded transformation of
"media/" to "typo3/sysext/cms/tslib/" (see getFileName() method in
t3lib/class.t3lib_tstemplate.php).

So, the template MIGHT be outside "fileadmin" folder and it DOES GET
loaded if this folder is set in
$TYPO3_CONF_VARS['FE']['addAllowedPaths']. It just MUST NOT be "media/...".

Hi Peter,

No offence but I think thats a bit naive of an expectation perhaps.
Every upgrade that I can think of (from 3.6 - > 3.7 -> 3.8 - etc -> to
4.3) has involved slight changes and modification to how the rendering
is done - from 'cset default' and 'content' in 3.6 to csc in v 4.3.

It *is* documented in the NEWS.txt
>>> file. Actually every TYPO3 admin should read this file when
>>> upgrading, because it is the one reference about all changes.
>> Thanks for your feedback!
>> I think its a good thing.. but NOT for HTML CE!
>
> It might be a good thing when starting a site from scratch.
> But IMHO upgrading an extisting installation should NEVER add something
> to content by default that changes the display by disturbing the design.

Anyway, it's strange because the template file is OK (same permissions
folder as "fileadmin" everything is OK. So I think it has something to
do with the name of the folder and automaketemplate doesn't allow to use
>                 </div>
>
> </div>

The first mapping of the sidebar will replace the contents of that div
by the content elements you put in that container.
This directly shows the problem with the subMenu: if the contents of the
sidebar div are replaced by something else, what can be done with the
submenu? The div with class "nav" isn't there anymore!

You can do something like:

<div id="sidebar">
   <div id="sidebar-content"> mapped to field_sidebar </div>
   <div id="submenu"> mapped to lib.subMenu </div>
</div>

Regards, Jigal.
> I think its a good thing.. but NOT for HTML CE!
But IMHO upgrading an extisting installation should NEVER add something
>> I have a lot of HTML CE that are puting some html code together -->
>> this are wrapped with this default frame too. That makes my code
>> invalid :(
>
> The default wrap around each content element, defined in
> tt_content.stdWrap.innerWrap has been changed thoroughly in 4.3. It now
> handles the "space before" and "space after" properties as well as
> rendering div's around each content element according to the "section
> frame" property. Before 4.3, there was no default.
>
> Now the thing is that css_styled_content was split in 4.3. It used to
> provide a single, huge static TS file. There are now several such files,
> one for each compatibility version and no more TS conditions all over
> the place. This makes such files much cleaner although it's a bit harder
> to maintain (as changes have to be replicated on all files, if relevant).
>
> So there are two ways for you to change the current situation:
>
> 1) you can go back to the 4.2 (or older) renderings, by including a
> different static template from css_styled_content. You can choose v3.8,
> v3.9 (actually = TYPO3 4.0) or v4.2, instead of the default from 4.3.
>
> 2) you can keep the static template from 4.3 and change the rendering by
> toying with tt_content.stdWrap.innerWrap.
>
> I know this change should have been advertised more openly, but we (Core

Hi there,

I've got a little advanced question (at least it is advanced for mer)
concerning templavoila. I am developing a new template. It contains a
content div on the right and a sidebar at the left. I mapped the sidebar to
a content container. So far so good, I can place content elements in the
sidebar.

But, I also want my submenu items to appear in the sidebar. For some reason
(I don't see) I cannot map the submenu to the div within the sidebar. I dont
know what's wrong or what rule I violate. (Same thing will follow concerning
pulishing a searchbox in the sidebar or any other plugin)

Maybe there's another what to do this?

The html structure is:

<div id="sidebar"> => mapped to filed field_sidebar with element type
content elemens

                <div class="nav"> => (currently not cause of error) mapped
to lib.subMenu

                </div>

</div>

There's an ! saying "No content found!" at the sebmenu mapping.

I hope I am clear on this...?

Further more, I love templavoila sofar. It shows real power I think. Using
FCE's is great!

Thx,

Paul

> Hello !
>
> Just for anyone interested. I wrote a little documentation about how
> TypoScript and PHP interact with each other, and a little explanation of
> how COA and other content objects work and can get rendered from within
> PHP. If anyone is interested in some good read:
>
> http://wiki.typo3.org/index.php/TypoScript_-_PHP_Interaction
>
> PS: I always find it good to resize the browser to a more narrow size when
> reading such wiki entries, so you do not have very long lines.
>
>
> greets,
> Bernhard
> I'm reorganizing my template files and I would like to put them on a
> folder outside "fileadmin". It doesn't seem possible on automaketemplate
> extension.

This has nothing to do with automaketemplate. It uses normal TypoScript
to define the file which it should use as a template.
In TS Ref you can find the details about the FILE object and it's .file
property.

> plugin.tx_automaketemplate_pi1 {
>   content = FILE
>   content.file = media/home/templates/page.html

This means that the file is read from the path media/.... which should
be relative to the website root (because it doesn't start with a slash '/')
As long as the path and the file are readable it can be used.

> but it displays a blank page as if template file wouldn't exist
> (permissions and path is right).

Maybe something is missing in the way you set up the PAGE object?
automaketemplate "only" puts markers in your HTML template, but you
still need to use that for normal template processing.

Regards, Jigal.
