Tales Of Monkey Island - Display Issues
Hello,
Sorry to bother but I have a standard install of Wine on Ubuntu 9.04 with nvidia graphic card, nvidia drivers (latest). Install go smooth I can start the game but the menu is alreadt crappy, only the left pane appears. We I start a new game some elements are missing but then I have only the sounds no video :(
I saw that this game was gold for wine (auto ditributed by ubuntu) on ubuntu 9.04 !?!
Please help

You didn't say what version of Wine, but if you're using the one that comes with 9.04, it's 1.0.1, which is very old. Upgrade to the latest development release. And make sure you're using the nVidia proprietary driver, not the open source one.

That did the trick, thanks a lot, that will teach me to trust ubuntu repositories for external software ;)

Re: Tales Of Monkey Island - Display Issues
Hello again,
Back with Ubuntu 9.10 and chap 4. I encounter a new issue.
I have installed wine 1.1.32 from the jaunty rep, from the wine's karmic rep and from ubuntu's rep (wine1.2.deb). I also tried with play on linux, cleaning my .wine between each and reinstalling the game each time.
The issue is that the game launches fine but right after the not full screen loading screen, when the full screen switch happens, I am back to my desktop under small resolution, the sounds is playing but no game image and no way to switch the it.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Tales Of Monkey Island - Display Issues
If you're using Compiz, could you try switching it off?

Re: Tales Of Monkey Island - Display Issues
OK I ll try tonight to set the effects to none, they are at medium (the default Ubuntu setting when proprietary drivers are installed)
Thanks for the hint.
PS : chp 3 worked fine with compiz set the actual way

Re: Tales Of Monkey Island - Display Issues
try it with a virtual desktop. i completely played through tales of monkey island that way without any problems.

Re: Tales Of Monkey Island - Display Issues
Everything worked fine after I totally disable compiz [Wink]
Sorry to sound even more noob than before but what do you mean by virtual desktop ? Virtual OS ? A full windows on my linux ? (if so, that would really be the ultimate solution, I really rather avoid it)

"Emulate a virtual desktop" is on the graphics tab in winecfg.
