I've been doing some work for this, but Tellico so far definitely doesn't
work on Windows. I already run into trouble when compiling it which
require manual modification of some cmake-generated files, on top of some
code modifications ; and when I start it, it crashes as soon as I try to
save a new/modified entry. But I did get it to compile and start. Don't
expect to install it on your machine in the near future, though...

Tellico for Windows anyone?

I have been using Tellico in Linux Mint for a while now, but I have to say that when I want to tweak Mint for better performance, it usually breaks on me or I run a command that screws something up.

I would like to see Tellico developed for Windows if Possible. It is a great program and would really help expand its popularity if it were installable in windows. Perhaps it could even be developed as an executalbe exe file that doesn't need to install in Windows?

Has anyone had any success here installing Tellico in Windows? I know that I you can install KDE for Windows and it would be nice if Tellico could be installed that way.

Anyways, I really like the Tellico program, but it seems to me that Linux is more of a programmers OS and it would really be nice to see Tellico installed in Windows at some point!

Part of the problem is that tellico discards the current results if you
search again. What about making additional searches additive (unless
someone pushes clear), and just popping up the multi-edit dialog with
the unfound items appended to the bottom of the list with a comment,
like so:

<isbn>
<isbn>
<isbn>

# The following ISBN's were not found:
<isbn>
<isbn>

Then the user could just delete the ISBN's that were found and resubmit
just the missing ones, resubmit the whole set, or whatever. What do you
think?

I haven't tried any new loans yet. I had one set of duplicate loans from
a 1.x version, and was able to unloan one of them somehow. But there's
still a loan against the same book that I can't seem to make go away.

Oh, since you said you couldn't identify which ISBNn values had failed, I
assumed you didn't see the dialog.

You can highlight one and do Ctrl-C, I think, but I see your point. It's a
standard KDE message box though, so I'll have to see if there's some
convoluted way I could make it more selectable. Tellico doesn't actually
create the dialog itself.

Hmm, I'm not sure that I have any files with loans saved from old versions.
So new loans you make with 2.1 can be checked-in, but not old loans?

It should show a window with the isbn values listed that were not found, so
you can copy them and paste for a new search. I'll check if something is
keeping that from working.

If you search for multiple ISBNs (e.g. 28 at a time) the Amazon search
is unreliable. Usually, 2-6 results will come back as "not found," even
though subsequent searches will return the correct results. However, the
fact that there's no way to resubmit just the failed searches--or to
even identify which obnes have failed in the edit box--means having to
carve up the list into no more than 4-5 ISBNs at a time for submission.

Is is possible to have the search check for some sort of timeout
condition, or to pop up a secondary search box to resubmit just the
failed elements? If nothing else, returning to the main multi-edit
window and showing the successful/unsuccessful matches with a different
font (e.g. italicizing the ones that didn't go through) would be a huge
help.

Yep, they changed that back in September. You have to sign-up with Amazon for an access key. Tellico isn't allowed to include a default one. Same goes for Crossref, ISBNdb, Wine.com and a few of the other sources.

option to search Amazon. This is probably a compile-time issue, since I
know the source code supports the feature.

I've reported this as a bug, but would like to compile the new 2.1.1
myself in the meantime. However, I'm having a hard time figuring out the
dependencies. What libraries and -dev packages will I need to compile
the source?

Tellico 2.1.1 is available from http://tellico-project.org. This release is
primarily a bug-fix release, with the following changes:

* Fixed bug that kept filters and loans for being saved in some
circumstances (Bug 214672).
* Fixed crashing bug related to column sorting (Bug 214661).
* Fixed crashing bug related to formatting table values.
* Added sorting in search results dialog (Bug 214523).
* Fixed sorting in list view when auto-formatting is changed.
* Fixed webcam preview window to appear only for ISBN and EAN searches.
* Updated allocine search script to version 0.7.
* Fixed sorting in the icon view.
* Updated IMDB search to include director and writer.
* Fixed Polish ISBN formatting (Bug 215411).

Due to the possible loss of data about filters and loans in previous
versions, all users are encouraged to upgrade.

OK, so I figured out I needed to add:

-DENABLE_WEBCAM:BOOL=ON

to the cmake call. Is there really a need to add the extra step if
libv4l is found, shouldn't that be enought? It's bit confusing when the
cmake reports that libv4l is detected and that barcoding will be
supported, but then it actually requires more magic cmake incantations
to actually get the support built. It should either fail or succeed
completely, rather than partially succeed without giving a clue about
the extra step.

[Tellico-users] barcode functionality doesn't appear to be built with 2.1

Hi there,

I'm trying to (re-)enable the barcoding suport in tellico 2.x for the
Fedora package. I notice that the cmake (?) script looks for the v4l
package, I have added that to the RPM .spec file, and it looks like
cmake detects it correctly:

But for some reason the module never gets built. I starting nosing
around and noticed that the build gets done in a separate build
directory to the source directory:

and the barcode subdirectory doesn't appear to get created there (unlike
all the other directories). Is there something else that needs to be

All of that sounds like you installed Tellico in a location which isn't
being picked up in the KDEDIRS variable maybe? Essentially, everytime
Tellico looks for an icon or file in the installation location, it looks in
the directories listed in the $KDEDIRS variable. If, for example, you
installed inn /usr/local, make sure /usr/local is in that variable.

Confirmed, thanks for noticing that.

Either way. I'm still considering whether to have bug reports come to the
list as well. A bugzilla report means there's a little more accountability
for fixing it. :)

[Tellico-users] Missing Icons & Reports in Tellico 2.1

Hi,

Seeing that the sorting bug had been fixed (thank you!), I finally built and
installed Tellico 2.1 yesterday. Upon starting the program (looking nice!), I
see that some, but not all, icons are "missing" inside the program.
Specifically I have noticed the Tellico icon, check mark and star ratings are
"missing." I have confirmed the icons exist in /share/apps/tellico/pics but it
would seem Tellico isn't displaying them. When selecting File>New, most the
icons are missing as well. The few icons that do display in File>New are
different than those in /apps/tellico/pics. For instance, the Wine Collection
icon under File>New is a Wine Glass, but the icon in /apps/tellico/pics is a
Wine Bottle. Other icons may be missing/different, these are the ones I have
noticed.

Additionally, I can't seem to generate reports or print in Tellico 2.1. I can
see the various reports in /share/apps/tellico/report-templates, but after
selecting "Generate Reports..." I have no Report Templates listed in the drop
down box. I assume not being able to print is a function of having no reports
to generate.

I can also confirm Jerome's bug -- all my saved filters are gone after closing
Tellico. If I open a file saved with Tellico 1.3.5, the filters are there ...
until I save in 2.1, close and reopen the file.

The crash is there but just realised that the crash is happening with my old database that has been
created with 1.3.x. Tried to create a new database with 2.1, there's no crash with new one.

Not sure, may be something broken with my old database or database migration process.

And there's no meaningful bt, just:

The crash is still there, or just that the sorting is wrong? I've never been
able to reproduce this one myself, so the bug fixing is a bit hard. Can you
send me another full backtrace for the crash?

For me, with the current trunk, all the sorting that I try seems to work and
the names and titles are formatted as I expect. So it must be some detail
that I'm missing.
