Testing out Vibes...

Hi,

after having read that there is some demand for an
electric-guitar-synthesizer, I wondered why... There is Vibes? ... So I
tried to get some acoustic and electric guitar-sounds out of it... You
can hear the result here:

http://lsp.lmms.info/index.php?action=show&file=676
(I will remove this soon, to not fill the database with stuff wich is
not wanted there...)

Please comment! If there is demand for a tutorial-mmpz file (which might
be included into the distribution? or not...) I will make one...

cu
Stefan

What I forgot to write in the last mail:

* Vibes seems to be rather unstable... at least sometimes...

* Pitchbending doesn't work with it... (wich is essential for some
guitar-parts)...
(Well, I _can_ use pitchbend with it, but it's range is so limited,
that it doesn't make any sense...)

Yeah this one sounds very cool! Presets and/or MMPZs would be welcome. Simply
upload them to LSP. And don't care about size of DB, it's virtually unlimited
;)

Ok, so I will be tidying up the guitar-test.mmpz I have done so far, so
it looks more pretty (and is easier to understand I hope...), fill in
some comments and upload it (as well as the presets for vibes) to LSP...

Don't you mean "Vibed"?

Usability issues, [WAS: Re: Testing out Vibes...]

Hi,

when trying to set up some tutorial MMPZ for Vibed being used as a
guitar-synth I ran into some problems...

   1. I would like to know how I can import parts (or all) of an
existing second MMPZ into the one I currently edit. I see that
there is a menu-entry under "Edit", which is called "Load resource
into..." but this doesn't seem to do anything? Other thing, I
tried was using the resource-browser to just drop the file into
the current project. This doesn't do anything, either...

Online-Documentation doesn't seem to mention this case, so I guess
      it is not implemented, yet?

What would be needed (if it doesn't exist allready and I  is from
an existing MMPZ load into the current one: a selection of tracks
into a different location of the file currently being edited.
"Different" means: different time (position in time), different
tracks in the Song-Editor, different FX-Channels...

   2. Mouse-Actions for Select, Move, Create, Copy, Delete are
completely different between all the Editors (Piano-Roll,
Track/Song-Editor, Beat-Editor). That is for example deletion of a
part is middle-mouse-click in the Song/Track-Editior and
right-click in the Piano-Roll... Nearly all combinations of
mouse-actions are screwed up like this between the editors (I
unintentionally deleted dozens of fine Parts by using middle-click
in the Song-Editor by accident...) I really do not know what FL
does there (and I am not interested in finding out either), but I
do expect that mouse-actions are all the same between editors --
at least inside of the same Program... This really is messy as it
      is...

   3. I read "Load Tutorial" in the start-screen (git-snapshot...). Is
there a way of modifying the MMPZ such alike that the user can
load it as a tutorial and seeing (e.g.) notes popping up on some
settings? Or read explanations on some parts of the piece?
   4. Is is possible somehow to copy the complete setup of an FX-Channel
into another one, so one can make only small changes to that other
channel? I currently seem to have all these plugins (and their
settings) added manually again and again, if I need them slightly
      modified on a different channel...

I struggled with these all weekend without much success...

cu
Stefan

OK, here we go, this time some mmpz's ...

I could not merge them into one file... but this is another story...

http://lsp.lmms.info/?action=show&file=680
http://lsp.lmms.info/?action=show&file=681

I hope you'll like them,... BTW: you need quite some ladspa-plugins for
them...

Technically possible. Let's wait and see how some of the song refactoring goes.

This is the current setup. Most features are noted:
http://lmms.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php?title=Key_Mappings

If you want to develop your own version of that and submit it for
review, feel free to. Note, some people are very religious when it
comes to what right-click should do in the editors.

Also, PLEASE note that the main editors are having a reworking where
selecting, moving, and adding can all occur in the same mode.

There is the notepad. If I understand you, you want it to automate a
presentation. Like a power-point presentation of steroids.  This is
not a feature and it is not planned for, *You are the first one to
mention anything of the sort.

No, but it is a good idea.  Do you mind placing a formal request so it
isn't lost forever?

I'm sorry. Thanks for using our software and I hope you start to enjoy
it more, and I hope we can continue delivering features that make your
life easier.

Regards,
Paul

Cool preset!

And toby is right, as long as people aren't uploading 1GB files or
anything, we basically have unlimited space.  Speaking of which, I
have about 60% of LSP2 written, but it will have to wait.  Any
sparetime I have must go straight to LMMS itself.
