I've seen the first 3 eps of S2 now and the hair is much better when it's mucked up. It is actually very slightly layered and you can see it when she's been running around the place and it is fluffed up and fuller looking. It is actually very much like the old do she sported from Terror of the Zygons onwards. It's a bit freaky because the old thing looks quite young and I got lots of flashbacks to the old Sarah. The only time I don't like the hair is when she's just had it combed for indoor shots and it's lank and straight and quite severe looking. So it's a good thing she spends most of her time running about the place getting it mucked up.

Has anyone seen the eps yet?

In essence, she does look rather severe.
That can work at times (Jacqueline Pierce as Servalan in Blake's 7 was attractive in a severe way), but I'll have to see her one day when the SJA Series 2 is on my telly or dvd.

Well, I've seen the first ep now and I have to say that the hair is not as nice as the previous layered do. Previously it shaped around her face and was quite trendy, but this hair is straight down each side. Too stark and I think too young for her. It's old Sarah and I guess just doesn't suit her any more. Plus it is a 70's style. I hope they change it. The clothes she had on in the very first scene really scared me though. I thought, my God, they're going to start dressing her like a granny. But my fears were allayed after the next scene when she donned her usual jeans, waistcoat and a long shirt, and that shiny greyish coat. I must say that at times, with that hair do, I got flash backs of the old Sarah. I thought I was going to see Tom Baker jump out and wave his scarf around.

I, too, was surprised by the new hairstyle. To me, it seems out of character. It's not trendy. And Sarah should be trendy!

But then, I remembered that when I first became a mom, I decided that I needed a "mom hairstyle" (wash-n-go/no-fuss). So then I thought, well, maybe now that Sarah's a mom, she decided that she needed a mom hairstyle too. At least, that is how I am justifying it to myself. :) Plus, if you spend a lot of time chasing aliens, you probably don't always have time to do the whole blow-drying-with-product-and-a-round-brush thing.

Eventually, I came to my senses and grew my "mom hairstyle" back out into long layers. Maybe Sarah will too. :)

I've seen a few pics of Lis lately and I can't say I like her new hair style. Perhaps when we see her in S2 it will look better but to me it's very page boyish, cut straight with no layers. I liked the layered style from S1. I also don't think that her pics on the covers of the new novels are very flattering. In fact I've had a bit of a grimmace at most of the promo pics right from the start. They tend to make her have a certain expression on her face which doesn't seem to suit her at all. You know, mysterious, suspicious etc. In the latest pics her new hair just makes her look less attractive. I don't think the people taking the pics and getting the shots etc are doing her justice. Maybe I"m being picky and when we see her on the show it will be different but I'm wondering what others think of this phenomena. I just think that one of the pics of Lis, on one of the new novels reminds me of Angelica Houston in Daddy Day Care. I'm not picking on Lis, mind, but rather the people in charge of photgraphing her. If I was her I'd not be happy to have those pics of me gracing a novel cover forever. Oh, and her choice of hair style. I think it is too harsh and the previous layered style was softer.

I hope that Sarah will wear more boots and hats. I never really got into boots and hats before, having developed my fashion sense in the late eighties and early nineties. Back then, we were all just realizing how ugly the "moon boot" trend had been, and so we were wearing dress flats or canvas sneakers (Keds, etc.) all the time--even in the Minnesota snow. And we all had big hair, so of course we couldn't wear hats, since hats would flatten our hair. Hee-hee. But now, after seeing how the boots and hats that Sarah wears are so pretty, I have a renewed interest in those items. Plus, boots and hats (as well as hair styles!) are much sleeker these days...I'd like Sarah Jane to pull my fashion sense into the 21st century by showing me some awesome new boots and hats in Series Two. :)

We need some nicer cardigans too, some that don't end all one inch up from each other at the waist and thus make her waist look thicker than it actually is (that and that her clothes shrank in the wash...) I'd love to see her in a longish coat-style cardigan, perhaps over a simple turtle-necked t-shirt.

The Boots are lovely and I would not mind their return. Myself, I would love to see Sarah rock a pair of Pennangalan L5 Storm boots, either with the Commando sole or the Gloria sole (admittedly less practical for prodding Raxacoricofallapatorian buttock but would look awesome doing so)

I would love to see Sarah in some formal evening dress. I picture a figure-skimming full-length velvet dress with a halter-neck, perhaps with a shimmery taffeta evening jacket (until the party gets too warm and she has to take it off.) I think something like that would show off her lovely figure and arms, retain her dignity and poise, and redefine "sexy" in the minds of the MTV generation ^_~

I agree. Maria dresses like a kid and although I don't think that sort of clothing should be worn by anyone over 20 I think Maria's clothes are very cute and my girls are having a ball dressing like that, particularly as that kind of dress hasn't hit our fashions yet. I like that the kids in SJA are kids, even though Maria professes not to be a kid. Typical teen attitude.

Yes but no tweed please. I liked the style of the skirt suit she wore in School Reunion but I'm not a fan of tweed or tweed-like material. To me it's only something the Queen should be wearing; or some old bloke going out to hunt pheasant or quail; or some old woman's skirt. Tweed is for old people [and yes I know SJ is old now but she's a youthful old person] I remember going to London to visit my friend who worked in Harrods and I was appalled to see her, at age 24, wearing a tweed skirt. Nah! Not tweed. I'd like to see her come out in those pale bluish/whitish boots that she wore in Robot. The whole outfit could suit today's fashions. It's anything goes right now. There are even those horrible patterned halter top long dresses that were the rage in the 70's available in shops now. Bluckgh!!!! I think SJ should wear skirts and tops like she's been wearing with or without boots. Maybe people could take pics of things they see in shops and post the pics for us to look at, if that is possible. SJ's wardrobe ideas. Email them to the wardrobe department, ha ha.

Ooh, I like all of those ideas. And Maria's clothes are adorable! I'm thinking of doing a seperate little bit of the site for outfits other than SJ's.
Maria's clothes are, I think, fairly odd even for British teenagers - I don't really know that many of them to observe closely, but Maria's stuff seems pretty quirky, but not way out.
I just thought, as well - we haven't seen Sarah wear a skirt yet, really. OK, she wore a dress in IotB, but in the main series she's just worn jeans every single week, and it's a shame because we know from School Reunion how great she looks in a skirt.
More skirts, please! If anyone out there is listening or cares!
'Life is the most wonderful fairy tale of all!' - Hans Christian Andersen, from What The Whole Family Said

OH Man!!!! That is so terrific!!!! If you made that outfit then you could whip up a stuffed owl. All the fluffy type material available now days. A few bits of felt. Go for it!!!!

We are always pointing out various pieces of clothing when we go shopping. Chrissy shoes have just lately appeared in shoe shops. Alot of Chrissy and Maria stuff although the other day I suddenly stopped in front of a shop and silently pointed at a white top hanging up. The offspring I was with at the time just looked and said "Sarah" and we walked on. A proud moment. But alas, there are no traditional Sarah clothes to be found. The closest I came to something traditional was last weekend when I walked into the plant department of a local shop, saw a potted geranium, picked it up and said " Look, it's too late apologising now. Everything's packed. I've got to go!!" much to the embarrassment of the non DW fan family member. So you could start by getting yourself a potted geranium to accessorise that fantastic Andy Pandy outfit.

Oh. Considering that 30 yrs ago I really wanted to have Sarah's clothes and now 30 yrs later I'm still wanting Sarah's clothes [although 30 yrs ago they would have actually fitted me, unlike now, lol] I've been giving some thought to her clothing. I would like to see her in a dress or skirt more often. Something a bit gypsified with the long boots still. Please please please no leggings. It might be ok for the teens but for anyone over 20....I think it to be the silliest fashion fad ever. Short boots and stockings would be fine. I liked the first dress she wore, although not the material. Too clingy. I was hoping her clothes would remain a bit quirky. I like the reading glasses idea because I've just had to bite the bullet and get some for myself. She did mention she needed them in Invasion of the Bane. I would like to see her out one night with some friend, at a posh do where she has to wear an evening dress. A nice one that is not too young for her but not some dowdy granny dress either. And not black. I would also like to see many different outfits. I know we all wear our same clothes over and over but I thought the wardrobe people were a bit repetitious with all the characters' clothes in series 1. I like Sarah in jeans but perhaps some different colours or different coloured boots that vary in length and material. Like the first ones she wore in Bane.

I have to actually comment on Maria's clothes. Very very odd but very very cute. I assume that this is the latest craze in teen wear in the UK. The seperates have just arrived here but the mixed together look hasn't quite made it. However, I managed to put together several outfits for my brood and they are very proud to be running around town dressed in the latest British teen fashions. They have Maria outfits and Chrissy outfits. All I need is a few Sarah outfits and we can all be SJA fashion tragics.
I'd like to see a biker jacket, more variation in shoes - perhaps some stilettos, something a bit retro, something over-the-top, a hat, more of the Coat of Awesome, reading glasses, and some kind of silly historical costume that she has to wear for some reason...
'Life is the most wonderful fairy tale of all!' - Hans Christian Andersen, from What The Whole Family Said
