Re: The Web Accessibility Toolbar 2.0 beta is now available.Nice. I find that there is a problem with, Resize, listing 640x480 as the lowest. By having a lowest it is somehow indicated that this is the lowest. It is not. Any ordinary webpage, unless there are good arguments against it, should work well in a mobile phone, etc. Mobile Web Best Practices 1.0, clearly says in 5.3.3.2, http://www.w3.org/TR/mobile-bp/#iddiv3126702920, that for "the Default Delivery Context assume a width of 120 pixels". This is much lower than above. Why not use "width 120 pixel" as the lowest in your Resize list? Cheers, Jesper Tverskov http://www.xmlplease.com |

> "Why not use "width 120 pixel" as the lowest in your Resize list?" Possibly because it would be rendering quite differently to a mobile device, and therefore misleading? Mobile rendering tends to follow one of two methods (except Opera, where you can choose): 1. Reformat without layout, i.e. linearise. 2. Display as a deskptop browser, but include a zoom. See: http://alastairc.ac/2006/10/mobile-browsing/ For the former, you are better off using the linearisation function. For the latter, um, your imagination, a screen magnifier or a bit of paper with a cut out? ;) Kind regards, -Alastair -- Alastair Campbell | Director of User Experience Nomensa Email Disclaimer: http://www.nomensa.com/email-disclaimer.html |

Re: The Web Accessibility Toolbar 2.0 beta is now available.Hi Jesper,
the indicated sizes are common for pc's
There is no implied minimum size one should test for.
If i want to check for handheld devices
I tend to use the Opera "small screen" setting.

Especially if we agree, that most web page ought to work well also in mobile devices. Jesper |

Re: The Web Accessibility Toolbar 2.0 beta is now available.Tighe and Distribution,
There is a free iPhone web simulator for designers/develepors at http://www.marketcircle.com/iphoney/ It's at version 1.1 as of 6/28/2007 and is open source (GPL Licensed). The SourceForge link is at http://sourceforge.net/projects/iphonesimulator/ Only thing ...it's written in Objective C and uses the Cocoa interface. I don't know if there is a way to "emulate " that code on Windows or Linux, especially if you need to convert the Cocoa code to run on a non-Mac OS X OS -Darin

Re: The Web Accessibility Toolbar 2.0 beta is now available. Thanks Darin, Hopefully this product will improve to more accurately represent the UI of an iPhone, also be available on PC and Linux too. I am also curious if it will support RSS podcast feeds directly instead of having to sync with a computer. Tighe "Darin S.
