Tileset for Sydney AustraliaHi,
For anyone interested I just uploaded a map tileset for Sydney Australia to the SourceForge site. The first I hope of many cities around the world! https://sourceforge.net/projects/gpsdrive/files/ It's 70mb and generated from OpenStreetMap data (circa this week) and rendered with the gpsdrive_generate_mapnik.py script via Mapnik and a PostGIS database. A working copy of 2.10pre7 with these maps will be handed out on a live-dvd to many hundreds of attendees at the upcoming Free & Open Source Geospatial 2009 conference in Sydney. Expect to see friendsd go nuts some time around 20 October. The pgRouting folks will be putting a PostGIS database with OSM data on the live disc, for the disk I've built gpsdrive with full Mapnik support, but no OSM database or world_boundaries.shp as they take up too much room. It would be great if we could link into pgRouting's DB setup, but I really don't know what I'm doing with that stuff so someone else would need to coordinate with them to make it happen. It would be *really* good to build some links between the two projects as well, as they complement each other very nicely I think. http://pgrouting.postlbs.org/ enjoy, Hamish _______________________________________________ GPSdrive mailing list GPSdrive@... http://lists.gpsdrivers.org/mailman/listinfo/gpsdrive |

I am a bit confused by that, I did not switch if off in DefineOptions.cmake, but I do not install friendsd.deb. It was my understanding that that package is if you want to run the server and is not needed if you are a just a client. And the DefineOptions.cmake ON/OFF flag is the same, it only affects the server (friendsd.gpsdrive.de) code. Is that correct? I tried quickly to run it yesterday but got some recv error or so in the terminal. I didn't try very hard though. I can add a line to gpsdriverc to have it "on" automatically, but for privacy etc I'm not sure if people would want that without them knowing. my install script is here by the way: https://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo/browser/livedvd/gisvm/trunk/bin/install_gpsdrive.sh > > The pgRouting folks will be putting a PostGIS database > > with OSM data on the live disc, for the disk I've built > > gpsdrive with full Mapnik support, but no OSM database or > > world_boundaries.shp as they take up too much room. > > it would be fine, if mapnik could use the data, but afaik > pgrouting needs other tables and data than mapnik... I really don't have a clue with this stuff, here is their install setup: https://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo/browser/livedvd/gisvm/trunk/bin/install_pgrouting.sh > > It would be great if we could link into pgRouting's DB > > setup, but I really don't know what I'm doing with that > > stuff so someone else would need to coordinate with them > > to make it happen.
