Time Change on Fedora 10I use NTP to set the time on my computer and in the past the time change
has been automatic for switching from daylight savings time. Today that did not occur. I get the tzdata updates including yesterdays. Jim KR _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list Discuss@... http://lists.blu.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss |

Not too long ago I woke up on the daylight savings change day and it hadn't changed because it turned out my time zone was set to the one in Indiana that doesn't change. I'm not sure how that happened -- I'm sure I didn't do it, and it would be an odd default to pick. -- Laura (mailto:lconrad@...) It's true that I've driven through a number of red lights on occasion, but on the other hand I've stopped at a lot of green ones but never gotten credit for it. Re: Time Change on Fedora 10True, if you use local time, the system does not switch automatically,
but you still can use ntp. There were parts of Indiana that were on Eastern, parts on Central, parts that did DST and parts that did not. While Indiana is still partially in Central time, all of Indiana now does DST. Why your system was set to Indiana, only you know :-) BTW: My fedora 11 did change properly, but I have UTC as well as NTP set. -- Jerry Feldman <gaf@...> Boston Linux and Unix PGP key id: 537C5846 PGP Key fingerprint: 3D1B 8377 A3C0 A5F2 ECBB CA3B 4607 4319 537C 5846 _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list Discuss@... http://lists.blu.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss |

(617) 661-8097 233 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02139 http://www.laymusic.org/ http://www.serpentpublications.org We had a young pitcher on that club named Jimmy St. Vrain. He was a left-handed pitcher and a right-handed batter. But an absolutely terrible hitter -- never even got a loud foul off anybody. ...he came back after striking out the second time, Frank Sele, our manager, said, "Jimmy, you're a left-handed pitcher, why don't you turn around and bat from the left side, too?" Actually, Frank was half kidding, but Jimmy took him seriously. So the next time he went up he batted left-handed. Turned around and stood on the opposite side of the plate from where he was used to, you know. And darned if he didn't actually hit the ball. He tapped a slow roller down to Honus Wagner at shortstop and took off as fast as he could go...but instead of running to first base, he headed for *third*! Oh, my God! What bedlam! Everybody yelling and screaming at poor Jimmy as he raced to third base, head down, spikes flying, determined to get there ahead of the throw. Later on, Honus told us that as a matter of fact he almost *did* throw the ball to third. "I'm standing there with the ball in my hand," Honus said, "looking at this guy running from home to third, and for an instant there I swear I didn't know *where* to throw the damn ball. And when I finally did throw to first, I wasn't at all sure it was the right thing to do!" Davy Jones, quoted in "The Glory of their Times" by Lawrence S.
