Our technical support, research and investment have led to the creation and development of leading microfinance institutions in Africa, Eastern Europe and Asia. Our work is financed by the German and the Swiss government, the World Bank and private investors. FIDES' approach to microfinance is unique in many respects. First, we are context, not methodology-driven. Our products and services are based on a sound understanding of the local environment and of the demand of clients for micro financial services. Models and methodological approaches vary across country Microfinance Institutions. Second, we bring 20 years of field experience and expertise in rural microfinance. Finally, FIDES is investor, provider of technical and research services and retail service provider. Multiple roles including investment ensure that governance is sound and that there is a commitment to the long-run. FIDES is currently creating four new institutions in Africa, in partnership with KfW, GTZ, IFC and institutional investors. In order to strengthen our team in Namibia, we are looking for an experienced Finance Manager The Finance Manager will be directly responsible for managing all finance and accounting activities of FIDES Bank Namibia, and supervise the finance staff. Tasks and responsibilities: · Establish and implement short and long range financial and accounting goals, objectives, policies and operating procedure; · Develop, implement and improve automated financial and management information systems; · Develop relationships and negotiate terms with banks, financial institutions and insurance providers for smooth flow of funds and services; · Oversee the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, department budgets, salary updates ledger and accounts maintenance and data entry; · Ensure that the finance activities will support FIDES Bank in pursuing its mission with a minimum of risk and a maximum of efficiency. Skills and qualification: · High level of integrity · University degree, with a major in finance or accounting preferred; · Minimum of 6-10 years of increasingly responsible experience in management capacities within a financial institution or commercial company. Working experience in audit beneficial. · Experience in working in Africa; · Demonstrated abilities in organisation and management of financial/accounting staff; · Treasury/fund management; · Thorough understanding of operational risk of a financial institution; · Implementation and working with computerised accounting and MIS; · Fluent in English; · Good communication skills - written and oral; · Excellent financial and analytical skills. · Understanding of and commitment to mission and values of FIDES Bank · Autonomy and ability to work in difficult contexts Location: Based in Northern Namibia - frequent travel within Namibia.
