Translate squirrel into Khmer

Hello,

I am KHOEM Sokhem, a translation coordinator for  Localization team of Khmer
Software Initiative project (KhmerOS, www.khmeros.info). I and my team
members have translated many applications/OS into Khmer such as: OpenOffice,
KDE, openSUSE,...

Now we are looking to translate squirrel into Khmer as well.
Could someone tell me how to get the file(s) for translating?

Sorry for being late in my reply. I haven't had access to computers much
this summer.

Thank you for being interested in translating SquirrelMail. We have some
documentation about translations at

includes a link to the statistics at
<http://l10n-stats.squirrelmail.org/>. The templates are in the
repository, which can be accessed through
<http://squirrelmail.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/squirrelmail/trunk/locales/po/>.
"squirrelmail.pot" is SquirrelMail itself, and the other templates and
subdirectories are for plugins. The directory "trunk/locales/po/extra/"
has the lowest priority - it contains plugins that are broken i18n-wise.

So now I am not clear with file(s) to translate. I saw squirrelmail.pot,
template.pot and many .pot files. I want to ask you again about the
translations. How many files should I start translating to make it in Khmer
interface fully?
What about the plugins? I plan to translate it as well, is it possible to
translate it the same time as main file (squirrelmail.pot)?

"squirrelmail.pot" is all you really need to get SquirrelMail without
plugins in Khmer, but you might want to translate some of the more popular
plugins as well. It doesn't matter if you do this in parallel or not.

You can read about translating help texts in the translator's manual.

Yes, you can mail your translation to this list, and I'll add it to the
repository. We need to set up a "setup.php" file[1] for Khmer as well, so
I have a few questions:

In your translations, do you write Khmer from left to right or from right
to left?

How do you write "Khmer" (as in "Khmer language") with your own writing
system? I'd prefer to have it HTML Unicode format encoding, but I can
convert it myself if you can provide it in UTF-8.

As far as I know, Khmer is the official language only in Cambodia. Do
Khmer in other countries, such as Vietnam and Thailand, differ from
Cambodian Khmer? If they don't differ, I'd recommend the language code to
be "km" instead of "km_KH". (The locale will still be "km_KH" though, at
least in Debian, since that's the only valid locale I know of. Please
provide others that might appear on other systems.)

For Khmer, I write from left to right.

Yes, I provide the file in UTF-8.

Khmer is the official language of Cambodia. Khmer is similar to Thai language.

yes, sure the language code is "km" and the locale is "km_KH". this is what I
want. sorry I am wrong.

What I meant was: your language is written as "Khmer" in English, how do
you write "Khmer" in Khmer? Example: "Vietnamese" is written as "Tiếng
Việt" in Vietnamese, which is "Tiếng Việt" in HTML. "Japanese"
is written as "日本語" in Japanese, which is "日本語" in
HTML.

Op! sorry I confuse your question. Khmer is written as "ខ្មែរ" in Khmer
language, which is "ខ្មែរ" in HTML.

Hello Fredrik,

As we have talked for a while about Khmer translations for squirrelmail, Now I
have completed the translation a file (squirrelmail.po) and I send you now
the complete translation file. As for the rest of other files I will send you
next when finished. If translators can access via SVN is very good to do the
maintaining for the translations.
