Hi
I'd lie to translate MyDMS since I see many untranslated strings but I
can't find it in a list of applications to translate (with Translation
Tools) on omgs.
Where do I have to look for it?
Thanks

I disabled it but I have just re-enabled it.

Thanks a lot. I will check if it is avaible for me too.
Due to my knowledge MyDMS uses not only eGW style lang
file but also old lang file (derived from MyDMS).
In this file non-ASCII characters are not usable and
after translating some phrases, overall MyDMS fails.
I mean it doesn't appear at all or sends funny errors.
It is a change in one file in MyDMS needed in order
to make Polish langugage avaiable. If it is possible
I would also send patch to this file.

Hm, I checked it but there are many strings missing (especialy strings
from Accecc rights ...).
Adam mentioned special language file (MyDSM original) that is located in
mydms/languages/ (Engllish and German ar in by default) named lang.inc.
There are all strings, that are shown in MyDMS. Is there a way to get
these strings in TranslationTools?
How about encoding? If I enter UTF-8 characters in lang.inc file, I get
wierd characters on my screen.
Thanks
Robert Ludvik
I made some experiences with converting mydms to meet egroupware's
language style.
It can work, that means, I am able to rewrite mydms to support
Translation tools.
Does anybody interesting about this version of MyDMS?
Actually I am only working on 1.2.x, but as far as I know, the
difference is not so much between these versions.

I am :-) We decided to use MyDMS until a new application will be
available (a merge of MyDSM+FilesManager).

Polish langfile for MyDMS doesn't exist - I have no right to create it.
There is no button 'Save' near Polish langfile - please check it!
Unfortunately I have a big task to complete the multilanguage support,
because now only the short description accessible by the Developer
tools.

Changelog:
* This version of MyDMS is using egroupware's standard method to support
multilanguages.
* All the table names are in low cases to avoid backup/restore problems.
* Updated English/Hungarian lang files.
IMPORTANT!!!
AFTER UPGRADING TO THIS VERSION, YOU MUST ALTER TABLE NAMES TO LOWER
CASE
MANUALLY IN YOUR DATABASE!!!!
New install:
- Simply untar into your root directory of egroupware installation.
- After that you can use egroupware/Setup to install mydms.
- That is all.
Upgrading:
- Make a backup of your existing mydms directory by rename it.
- Untar this new version to mydms directory.
- Login to your database with your favourite database client and convert
all phpgw_mydms_* table names to lower case, for example
phpgw_mydms_Users to phpgw_mydms_users.
- Check the MyDMS application by using it.
- Use Developer tools to translate mydms to your language.
I plan to merge this version with 1.4/trunk to support that versions
too. But later :)

I reply to translation list only.
What is above is one major issue that at least I'm "allowed" to perform,
nor I want to face. Translation of egw is separate as long as it affects
only to what a user sees in the UI when chooses to show contents in
his/her language, trying not to affect negatively other languages. What
you describe above is beyond translation.
For all of you who aren't aware, the plans are to integrate mydms and
the file management stuff in a new backend for the future stable
release. That's the reason why I disabled mydms at my site, taking that
there were no changes between 1.2 and 1.4 (I think, but I didn't check
it, because core developers don't work on mydms because of this).
Of course, this is open source software and you're free to use and adapt
to your needs, but just have this in mind for the future.
Regards.

Hi,
I know (nearly) everything about the planned filemanager + mydms
integration.
Some reasons, why I working on this "old and unsupported" application:
- my company use it and need it to work,
- some of my customers also use it
- some other users in my country and other countries also use it
- there are no alternative solutions for the old and stable 1.2, and for
the new and unstable 1.4.
- I got positive feedback from users
- my personal opinion is: supporting existing users is important. Not
everybody can upgrade to the higher version and the 1.4 is far from the
enterprise level.
So, I love this project and I like the new features of 1.4, but I have
partners, which need support and solution for their problems. Waiting
for the future is not the solution, but an option.
My opinion is, mydms is a really useful application, which has no
alternative solutions, but only some plans.
So, do not worry, I will put my effort into mydms and I will share it in
my site to those users, who needs it.
I do not annoy core developers.
By the way, the user interface of mydms now ready to translate to any
languages via developer tools. I think, this is good for non-english
users.
For example one of my partners wants to read other text on the Submit
button than "Submit query" :)

It's not "old", and the reason to not support it just that the features
will be enhanced and integrated in egw (currently mydms is not a
"native" egw app). Apart from this, I also think that mydms is great,
but we can't confuse users.

If you make changes to code and core devs approve it, I have no problem.
It's just a pity that this wasn't done before 1.4 release. Once
released, there should be no new functionalities. Anyway, I still can
upload new mydms lang files you get in trunk (taking that don't break
anything, while you get your code approved or not).
Regards.
