I did a search and don't find too much on this so please "flame" me elsewhere if I need direction.
We've implemented Ledger this year and find it very useful/satisfactory thus far. As we try to spread our wings a bit, there are some areas that we could use some coaching in.
1. When we have a transaction that has cash in for an event (camp out) and money from scout accounts, only the cash shows on the profit center report (we have a 500 series account for each event).
2. We have a 600 series to charge the boys for the event, that does decrease their balances but I'm guessing that this should not be included in the profit center list and another 600 series shold be created for food, fees , etc.
3. When there is cash collected and items purchased from that cash, what is the best way to record that in the tool after the fact. We tried the zero withdrawl approach and split accounts but the tool did not want to let us out of the split box without bringing the total back , then reported sub accounts out of balance when we zeroed the withdrawl (maybe that's OK??).
Any help/advice appreciated, looking forward to our first full fiscal year 2009-2010 (Maybe even with a budget)
