TroopLedger StatusIs TroopLedger ever going to be updated? It is still called TroopLedger ME, and the user manual is from, I think, 2003.
And will it ever be usable with DotNet so that it will be easy for the Treasurer, Committee Chair, Scoutmaster, Fundraiser Chair, and Activities Chair to all work together on it? Dan Kurtenbach Fairfax, VA |

Re: TroopLedger StatusWe bought TroopLedger and tried really hard to make it work.
My Treasurer is pretty good with numbers and spreadsheets but was constantly frustrated with the program. When she bought a new computer, rather than transfer the data, she put the program in a drawer and converted to Excel. [/Mark] Sometimes the flipside of being comprehensive is being overly complicated. I was going through the TroopLedger user manual last night and my head was starting to hurt. "Passbook" accounts? Didn't those disappear in the 1970s? We're looking at tools to help move beyond handwritten records of who has paid for registration, summer camp, and activities, and who needs to be reimbursed for supplies and equipment and awards. And we are looking at starting Scout accounts. Ideally, some of this would be integrated with activity management in TroopMaster. The notion of having to maintain membership information in both TroopMaster and TroopLedger is not very appealing. And what is with the Windows 95-style graphics and interface? I guess my bottom-line concern is that TMI is not keeping pace with technology, and I don't want to invest in a system that will be obsolete in two years, if it isn't already. RE: TroopLedger StatusI've looked at it as well. I'd like to see the folks at TM update their
application to offer a web-based solution similar to TM dotNet. In addition, I'd like to see the functionality for keeping track of funds (fundraising, scout accounts, etc) within an add-on application that can be fully integrated into TM for an added fee. I'm continually running into issues with multiple people attempting to access TM (and PM - I'm a leader on both sides), but finding it's locked because someone else is working with it. Right now, it's a minor inconvenience, but we can't access TM from an iPhone, Crackberry, linux box like we could a web-based application. Just suggestions to make the product better. We're happy with TM for now. TroopLedger.we're sticking with our spreadsheets until we find a better application. CJ From: TMTUG@... Re: TroopLedger StatusI know when I used packmaster, it was a absolute nightmare, I would use something like microsoft money or another finaning software before that nightmare, I think it was set up by a MDA or a stock broker, TL or PL is not real user friendly.
