Trouble getting started in snow leopardI've just installed OS X "Snow Leopard" and also the version of FF that
George built for it. I'm getting this error message when I try to launch the program: Library not loaded: /opt/local/lib/libXi.6.dylib . . . Reason: image not found Indeed the library is not there. That and some other files that FF wants are however in /usr/X11/lib, I suppose as part of the standard Mac X11 installation. What's recommended here? Symlink to all the libraries that FF wants? install these libraries through Fink? Sorry about my ignorance: the Mac is always a puzzle to me. Re: Trouble getting started in snow leopardNo such directory '/opt' even if there was and the links were in from '/usr/X11/lib' FF crashes again complaining that libXi.6.dylib is version 7 and FF requires version 8. So it's not going to run anyway. Fink has no Snow Leopard version yet and Macports dont have the updated libs. FF's installer should include and should check for the library files it requires or at the very least provide a link to a download of libraries. The install notes say that FF doesn't even need any libraries which is BS cos then it goes on to say they can be sourced from Fink or Mac Ports. DUMB!!! |

Will post later this evening (I hope). One thing that should always work is building from source. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Let Crystal Reports handle the reporting - Free Crystal Reports 2008 30-Day trial. "DUMB!" when you yourself are coming off like a drooling idiot. Re: Trouble getting started in snow leoparddrayon pointed out to me (off list) that his post was dated Sept. 7,
though it only got sent out on Sept. 12. I should have noticed this. As to my "drooling idiot" response to his "DUMB" comment, that was both rash and inaccurate. The correct term, I think, would have been "troll," and it would have been best not to rise to the bait. I apologize to the list for doing so, and to drayon for mischaracterizing his post.
