U3 USB stick mit netbeans platform

Dear all,
a customer asks me to make a netbeans platform app to be compatible with U3
standard for USB bootable disks. The app should be started automatically on a
windows system if the usb-stick is plugged in and no data should be changed or
storaged on the computers harddisk.

What is with the storage of the preferences? Are there any further hints?
Any experiences with nb platform apps on u3 standard USB sticks?
